Apparently the FA Cup has it's "sparkle" back 11:46 - Mar 31 with 1080 viewsbsw72

Not sure I have witnessed much sparkle in the cup this season

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c934p10vg1xo

Based on the games I watched over the weekend, and even in the previous round, it's been a bang average FA Cup this season. I guess the BBC are under pressure to hype it up as they pay for the coverage . . . and need to justify their sub-licenced agreement with TNT going forward.

Depends what they mean by sparkle I suppose

I've been more interested in it this year than in previous years. Mostly because of our cup run, but also because there are still teams in it for whom winning it would mean an awful lot, rather than City, Utd, Arsenal winning it every year.

Also the premier league this season has been pretty dull. No title race, relegation spots looking pretty likely to be wrapped up. The battle for European spots will never excite me regardless of how much Sky try and make it so!

So at least the cup could provide some excitement. More matches going to penalties is an absolute travesty for clubs who should have earnt a reply, but who doesn't love a penalty shoot out (when you're not involved in it) and there's been plenty of those

Well, the sides in the quarter finals at least made that part more interesting. The likelihood that Manchester City will grind out another tainted trophy probably reduces interest in the semi finals but Villa could give them a decent match if they get that far.

As for the matches, I only saw Brighton - Forest at the weekend and that was largely attritional with Brighton hardly bothering to attack.

The favourites are up for a zillion financial charges, Forest were deducted for cheating last season.

That is very harsh on Forest, they held out for a much higher price for young Johnno from Spurs, it just did not go through until after the PSR date, which is completely ridiculous to have the PSR compliance date before the transfer window is closed.

See what happens when we get to the last 16, it sparkles. They're only here for the Ipswich.

I disagree with your line about the BBC. The pundits and commentary team for Brighton vs Forest spent the whole game almost apologising to the viewer for the lack of action, with Lineker doing his classic "told you it would get better" while it was still 0-0 after normal time.

Ironically it wasn't actually a bad game! If anything they should have been hyping it up more.

There's a bit of sparkle back in the sense that someone 'new' could win it. Enjoy it.

I like football.

I don't like this nonsense, only a total capitalist cuck would love what they have done to the game.

If that's you, enjoy your gambling ads and Manchester City.

But why did the FA decide to hold the semi final draw before the last quarter final? Presumably to do with TV audience or TV rights, but this sort of messing around with the FA Cup, plus also playing a huge number of 3rd round ties at odd times or dates (for "overseas Tv rights") should an organisation who know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
