Palmer free kick 18:34 - Apr 5 with 1241 viewsBluecasp

Just seen the highlights again and it looks like Palmer saves the ball after the pass back takes a small touch of his boot, Does that not then mean that he can save the ball with his hands as its no longer a pass back? Not that it really matters as the resulting free kick block from Morsy was one of our few highlights,

....what's stopping keepers just controlling a back pass with their feet and then picking it up?

Lets face it the rule is ridiculous and it should at least merit a penalty, and probably a red card.

He stopped an obvious goal through "foul play" and all they got out of it was an indirect free kick that's very difficult to score from.

No, still counts as a back pass else what stops keepers controlling the ball and then picking it up?

Thought at the time that should probably be a red card as it's not really any different from a defender deliberately sticking his arm out to block a shot on the line.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Agreed, it's handball effectively. Just as it's not allowed outside the area. An indirect free kick from that position is probably on a par with a corner for the potential of scoring. A penalty or red card should be given.

Law 12 says otherwise.

My personal opinions are not included in the laws so I'm not surprised.
