The joy of being in Burnley or Sheffield United's position 10:31 - Apr 6 with 781 viewsChrisd

The difference to this time a year ago and the excitement of potential promotion to the EPL. That's the feeling you crave and want to bottle up, does it get any better than that? At least both those sides (and Leeds) know what to expect if promoted, but that appears the 'epitome moment' once promotion is sealed from the Championship and the 5 or 6 weeks of the close season. Beyond that, the flame of hope and optimism soon starts to flicker.

I wonder how they’ll feel going back in. They’re bound to still be bruised from last time. There’s absolutely no guarantee a yoyo means you’re likely to stay up - Leicester and S’ton both had years in the PL and look at the state of them this year. I suppose it depends on the stage of your squad’s development. Maybe a club that’s been on an upward trajectory and are developing a squad would find it easier than clubs that have stagnated in the PL like S’ton and Leicester? Who knows. I can see Utd and Burnley struggling again if they both go up. Although Burnley look excellent defensively and physically, which at least gives them a good platform.

Both will be more ready for it than last time, it isn't going tk be easy for anyone though

Leeds if they do finally crack it, look about the best set to compete, they also have that Red Bull connection which shouldn't be underrated

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I wonder if there’s ever been a sentence uttered before that includes the words “The joy of being in Burnley”?

I visited the forums of the four you mention sometime last summer. The mood was markedly more cynical and less optimistic than on here at the time, you may not be surprised to hear! Not that it stopped Leicester fans gunning for Cooper lol.

Fulham and Bournemouth yo-oed successfully in 22/23 though, while Forest 'cheated' their way to survival that same season too. For everyone outside the top 17 now, all you can do is put yourself in the best position to capitalise when one of those teams has a horror season. We hoped Wolves or Palace might do the honours for us but they've both posted top 8 form since Christmas. Someone will mess up big time again.

For those in the top 17, this has been an exciting and competitive year in the main. Stick a line through Champions and relegation for the neutrals or Arsenal fans: we have Forest going from 17th to 3rd, 10+ teams at various points seriously hunting Europe. You'd be loving it as a Bournemouth fan, despite their booing.
