I'm actually quite looking forward to the Championship.

I much prefer the more rustic, older, smaller grounds. I like the more traditional stuff and not fighting past the tourists with their half and half scarves.

The thought of going to Hillsborough, the Kassam, the Hawthornes etc is much more appealing than any of the soulless bowls in the EPL.

Change my mind...

Kick off times will be all over the place, due to Sky.lots of 12:30 ko's

Loads of teams will turn up and just park the bus at Portman Rd, there will be some really really dire games to sit through on a cold Tuesday night in winter.

There will be loads more time wasting by players

The officials will be even worse at their jobs than the Prem lot.

You'll be surrounded by fans who will get upset if we aren't top of the league and winning every game.

People will still complain about getting away tickets, with smaller grounds and smaller allocations.

And the last time we got relegated to the Championship it took 22 years to get promoted back up again and there was alot of bad Championship football we suffered in those years

I would love to have seen teams turn up and park the bus at Portman Road this year. They didn't and instead they just drove their bus right through us. 12 defeats in 17.

Veni Vidi Participatur. Now we can get back to competing.

I get it. But bloody hell it's ironic that for so long our club was criticised (as others are) for performing badly and not being able to competing with those at the top, and in the end people don't actually want that to happen anyway!

It seems there's a real sweet spot in terms of where some fans of some clubs want them to be.

- No one wants to be floating around mid table in the Championship = beyond boring.

- No one wants to be fighting against relegation to L1 = embarrassing

- Challenging for but ultimately missing out on Championship play offs? That also feels quite dull and lacking ambition

- Achieving promotion, either automatically or via the play offs = Fantastic but you're then in the Premier League where you lose more than you win* and you don't like the circus and fake glamour that comes with it

*Some fans seem to have really struggled mentally with that this season it seems, almost as if it was unexpected.

I've no problem with Ipswich being a solid Championship club, that's what we are realistically, but to be honest I'm growing a bit bored of the 'can't wait to be back in the championship' shouts.

The manager we adore so much will be thinking the complete opposite and will want to return there as soon as possible, with or possibly without us, and the players too. We should be wanting our players to be competing against the very best, not settling for watching them in a sub-standard league just because they win more games.

People can feel how they want though, that's just my feeling on it. And I can't argue with the point about the grounds in the Championship to be fair.

These 'can't wait to be back in the Championship' posts weren't about when George Burley took us into Europe.
Are people suggesting that if we were going into the final match of the season needing a point to stay up they would want us to lose?

To me it sounds like sour grapes from bad losers.

I think everyone is the same.

Looking forward to being competitive again. Seeing some exciting football and exciting games. Seeing football played at 3pm on a Saturday for the majority of the season.

Im more than happy to bounce between the Champ and the Prem but not sure I want to do it every other season. However, I believe the experience we have had this season will do us the power of good should be bounce straight back. We have managed to compete for a lot of the time and we have played some cracking football going forward. Just need to sort that defence out.

I will add I also dread the very real (albeit small) possibility that things don't go to plan and we end up stuck in the Championship for another 20 years.
