Swimmable lakes in Suffolk 11:39 - Apr 27 with 2277 viewsThisIsMyUsername

Does anyone know of any lakes in Suffolk where it is a) safe, b) nice and c) viable to swim in?

There appears to be some lovely lakes at West Stow Country Park but I called them and they said they that swimming is not permitted (though whether or not people do of course is another question).

Thanks in advance.

I asked about the diving boards, he said that once the pool gets the go ahead then they can apply for things like the diving boards.

I doubt they'll get one in today's nanny society. Probably considered too dangerous.

Those diving boards at Broomhill were daunting, I think I jumped off the top one once (with knees crouched in and arms around as quickly as possible.) There was an apocryphal tale that someone did a belly flop from there and split their stomach open.

It’s the general level of crime that I think could occur there that would put me off letting my daughters go.
Ipswich isn’t the place it was 15/20 years ago. I think it would be horrible up there during the school holidays

Gosfield Lake

might be just over the border in Essex (not sure)

Gosfield Lake is in Essex.

And it's mainly a water skiing venue. They do permit swimming, of certain kinds, at certain times.

More info here - https://gosfieldlake.co.uk/open-water-swimming-faqs/

Another place in North Essex for fresh water swimming is the Stour at Bures.
