Who are the “nerdiest” sports fans….? 11:29 - Apr 30 with 1194 viewsBloots

….just watching a bit of the snooker and there’s a bloke in the second row watching the match through a pair of binoculars!

Broken Britain.

The footy fans doing 57-tweet data threads on expected corner kicks or transfer targets from Lithuania. Get in the bin as they say.

….where the Doofus (one for you there) said that he was gonna do a thread whenever a club reveals their “released list” explaining why each player is going and at which club he would best fit next.

Shoot me.

But at least he wasn’t sitting in Sheffield with his binoculars.

The data nerds all have that same intense overly serious tone, as if they and they alone have cracked some special code with their analysis when in fact their opinion is no more worthy of bloke in the pub.

Talking of doofuses… over here there is a certain kind of baseball fan, mostly older folk, who go to games but have headphones on so they can listen on the radio AND take a scorecard with them so they can track hits and runs and errors and all the other stats. Wonder if there’s a somewhat similar equivalent in cricket.

….for years.

There’s an old boy who goes down my local club and does it.

He’s got different coloured pens and everyfink.

Speedway. Recording the placings and results on the programme/ card. Some even have boards to hold the paper steady. And the race time for each race.

If we're talking in general terms, I'd say cricket is certainly up there. It's a stats nerd's heaven.

If you want to know how many times a batter has been out to left-arm spin on a Tuesday afternoon on a west-facing pitch, when prawns have been on the lunch menu, and Mars is in the ascendant; someone will definitely have that stat squirrelled away somewhere.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

I really hate the new tactical words for stuff that already existed in a simpler fashion. See: 'Low Block' - sitting deep, and many such examples.

The provisional wing of the football ground hopping community. If they don't get a programme and a badge it's a national emergency. There was one guy who had to touch the match ball to make the ground a 'tick'.
