….where the Doofus (one for you there) said that he was gonna do a thread whenever a club reveals their “released list” explaining why each player is going and at which club he would best fit next. Shoot me. But at least he wasn’t sitting in Sheffield with his binoculars.

The data nerds all have that same intense overly serious tone, as if they and they alone have cracked some special code with their analysis when in fact their opinion is no more worthy of bloke in the pub. Talking of doofuses… over here there is a certain kind of baseball fan, mostly older folk, who go to games but have headphones on so they can listen on the radio AND take a scorecard with them so they can track hits and runs and errors and all the other stats. Wonder if there’s a somewhat similar equivalent in cricket.

If you want to know how many times a batter has been out to left-arm spin on a Tuesday afternoon on a west-facing pitch, when prawns have been on the lunch menu, and Mars is in the ascendant; someone will definitely have that stat squirrelled away somewhere.
