Our defensive record is our biggest concern in my opinion |
I think we've got two big problems...
1. We don't defend well enough. We are far too easy to play through, and nowhere near good enough at dealing with crosses.
2. At premier league level, our play out from the back is not good enough, leading to rapid turnover of possession, and more pressure. Our MO is to transition quickly to create openings, and when we can't do that, we're a bit stuck.
these two things were also noticeable in the Champ.... we conceded a lot of goals for a team that won so many games, but also we struggled against two types of teams... those with a really good energetic press ( eg Leeds), and those that sat in a low block. Very few teams could do those well for 90 minutes though, so we were often able to overcome them. Will be interested to see how improved we actually are when we are back in the champ. |  |
