Worried by the state of the UK, this board 20:27 - May 16 with 6695 views | thebooks | When I see posts like: “None of the parties have the balls to stop the boats or deport those that have arrived illegally, even those that have been caught raping, robbing and wanting an easy life provided by us tax payers.” I worry. This is how fascism spreads. It’s normalised through stuff like this that just passes by with a couple of down votes. We get used to it.

I like Clive Lewis, and think he comes across well, but he has no chance. Burnham is probably a bit conformist but maybe about as radical as it is possible to be under the new system for choosing candidates. Although that would depend on his winning a seat which might not be easy, even if he wanted to become an MP.

Yeah suspect thats right re Lewis. Burnham might be the only option but as you say depends on a lot of other factors. I can't see the Labour right giving up control easily either. Grim times!

I'm not sure those who currently control the party would be especially keen on Burnham either to be honest, though I think he'd be popular with both the membership and the public.
