We're now too predictable 17:20 - May 18 with 660 views | Woolfenthen | No change in system, subs like for like, all for having an identity but sometimes you have to try something different. Would loved to have seen us experiment with Hirst and Delap up top at some point, I mean what do we have to lose. It's just rinse and repeat, which is fine if you're winning but christ it looks stupid when you're not. [Post edited 18 May 17:36]

That's McKenna's fault for not signing another number 9, I guess we got Philogene or Enciso instead Enciso has been okay but probably needed to be with us at the start of the season to really flourish

I'd argue and say over recent weeks we have been hampered by injuries, yet have still set up the same with players shoe horned into positions they're not used to. We have been crying out all season to add more steel to the midfield which has been overrun time and time again, yet persist with just 2 in the middle. Wingers have been ineffective but still play 3 behind, why not try a more conventional 4-4-2 with the wingers wide, 2 up top? Perhaps 5 at the back, we've not been short of centre halves and this would allow the likes of Davis to thrive. Just stuck with the system which of course has served us well, but just feel you have to be more adaptable in the top flight.

Yeah, too little too late from him. The injury didn’t help either. If we could have got him in the summer he could have been a real asset.

I seriously doubt McKenna has even considered a change of tactics. He plays players that are clearly too lightweight ( HIS players who he wanted). Losing games he has never once TRIED Hirst and Delap on the pitch. I now doubt he's got it in his locker to manager any other way than he currently does. Groundhog Day no matter what presents itself before the game, and during the game. This time last season I was packing myself we'd love him, now I don't care if he leaves, because I seriously now doubt hd will get us promoted next season. Why? Because he's to inflexible in his approach, massively predictable to opponent managers. They dibt have to even work or consider how we might set up and play, so they can 100% set their team up to beat us. To not manage to beat a single relegation team around us in both games says it all. As good a coach as the hype surrounds him, he's failed completely to demonstrate any learning or adaptation over the course of the season. Championship managers will know exactly what to expect from us next (regardless of which Town players are fit or not), and will have their plans A&B already in place.... will McKenna?

You don’t need a plan B when your plan A is good. In the Championship he’s proven he can do it his way. And that wasn’t the same as in L1. He changed things to make us sit back a bit more and be faster in transition and on the break. So he is adaptable. This year was a step too far, but I’d have thought it was obvious why. If we’d have changed him, who would we have brought in? Could whoever it was have got more from players who continue to miss easy chances? The manager can’t change that. Changing the manager worked for Wolves, as they were under-performing and have some real, experienced PL quality. We don’t. And it didn’t work work for several other clubs. Worrying about whether or not he’ll fail next season is for the birds imo. He was good enough to get back to back promotions with a team assembled in L1. There’s no logical reason to think we don’t have a chance next year. It won’t be easy, but we’ll go again and give it our best shot. He’s MILES better than any other manager we’ve had in about 25 years. My advice is to chill, enjoy the summer and look forward to the new season. I know I am already.

Blinked McKenna and I don't want him sacked. McKenna is predictable like for like subs between 62 and 68 minutes most games. After the way we set up v Chelsea he had learnt something but from then on I'm not so sure.
