But what's the one thing that hasn't been tried in the last 70-odd years? Giving the Palestinians a proper home, security, hope, a right to exist, ie their own state.
Give the Palestinians that, and then maybe there's no need, no desire for Hamas. |
I doubt it. The Israeli disengagement of 2005/6 saw the population vote in Hamas to govern them. Hamas are there to destroy Israel and kill jews, with support from the local population. |  | | |

Gaza remained occupied under international law even after Israel's "disengagement". It was also subject to an Israeli blockade making it essentially an open air prison.
As for support for Hamas from the general public, that's hard to gauge given that half of them were not even born the last time there was an election. Collective punishment is a crime under international law. |  | | |

They certainly don’t want a democratic debate about it either given how an opposition MP who dared to question the genocide was “forcibly removed” from their parliament this week.
Meanwhile innocents continue to be killed and people radicalised. The hate spreads. I have just been catching up on news and reading about the murder of the two Israeli staffers in Washington this week. Horrible and so bloody pointless. |  |

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert lashed out at Israel during an interview with the BBC on Tuesday, claiming that what Israel "is doing now in Gaza, is very close to a war crime".
Olmert further claimed that this is "a war without a purpose - a war without a chance of achieving anything that can save the lives of the hostages."
The former Prime Minister asserted that the "obvious appearance" of the war in Gaza is that thousands of innocent Gazans are being killed, as well as many Israeli soldiers.
"From every point of view, this is obnoxious and outrageous. We are fighting the killers of Hamas, we are not fighting innocent civilians. And that has to be clear," he told the BBC. |

In an interview for BBC World Service's Newshour programme, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert described the current Israeli administration as a "gang of thugs".
He was asked about remarks by the Israeli education minister, who had said Olmert should be ashamed of a previous interview with the BBC, where he argued that what Israel was doing in Gaza was "close to a war crime".
"This is nonsense, they are a group of thugs that are running the state of Israel these days and the head of the gang is Netanyahu - this is a gang of thugs," Olmert said.

I don’t know how we go from here to an outcome similar to that for the Bosnian genocide (which had many parallels with what’s happening in Palestine). I can’t remember what turned opinion and more importantly the international community against the VRS and ultimately lead to those high profile tribunals and prosecutions against those responsible. tThe IDF seem to operate very similarly. | |
