Doing the 92 in one season 18:44 - May 26 with 965 viewsJrm_72

Read a preview of this article on reddit, seems really interesting. Its behind a paywall, if anyone knows the internet magic to unlock it, have at it!

Enjoyed in particular the description of the toilets at Oakwell (I went to their first game of this season) - walk in, see wall, pee on wall, leave. Doesnt even have a roof, just four brick walls and a piece of gutter concreted into the floor

Not behind a paywall for me.

I can’t imagine how doing the 92 is practically possible in 1 season, especially if you also follow a club. Not to mention the cost.

That's bizarre. Paywall has gone for me too!

Yeah imagine impossible unless got the sort of contacts and expense account that comes with a national newspaper.

I'm at about 50 having only seriously tried for two seasons, and paid over £200 for a ticket at least 5 times so far

That’s a good effort, I’d like to do it when time / family life allows for it a little more.

I’ve not counted (I will at some point) but I’d guess I’m pushing 50 just from following town across 3 tiers and other grounds I’ve been to for random games.

Being a bit erm 'particular' as I can be from time to time, I think I'm up to 70 if I count grounds I visited with Town in my youth.

However, I haven't counted them as can't remember the details and don't have the programmes to prove it (I have a spreadsheet and four folders of programmes. Like I said, 'particular').

Definitely impossible if you’re trying to follow your own club - per 18:

There’s no delicate way of saying this: I have spent 2024-25 missing the best campaign by my beloved club since I was nine years old

Ouch!

I would imagine that following your own club away but missing the home games and attending whatever other matches are local to each other but different kick offs would possibly work. Include cup matches, maybe reserve, youth and women's games if they are at the main stadium too. It would still be expensive and time-consuming and take a lot of careful organising. Postponements could easily wreak havoc with it too.

Spoke to some Forest fans after the game against them at PR, and their mate was doing them all in one season…. The season they have their best one in years.

17 was a bit of a unfortunate ( hopefully not for us ) outcome.

I would imagine it has gotten much more difficult and definitely expensive over the years. I would imagine if you live in Nottingham it would be quite easy to tick off quite a few quite quickly. Much more difficult if you live in Ipswich and your 1 hour catchment is only 3 or 4 venues. I'm a stickler for the old style grounds. A particular favourite was elm park. Memories of it was it felt like a big match, many pubs around the ground (ps I haven't had a pre match beer in years now). For me the fun and excitement of football is for the young lads and lasses. Learning about rivals, what they like, what they dislike, what they do in their area. Quite fascinating really. But most of all football is about supporters.
