What was Cooper wearing here? 09:13 - May 28 with 1304 viewsbluelagos

Was it like a rugby shirt under his keepers top? Presumably to keep warm rather than a fashion thing?

The Collars are the same shape and size as the green collars on the goalkeeper shirt beneath them, so I would think it is likely to have been a spare outfield First Team shirt, that he is wearing, as you say, to keep himself warm.

Also seen in away game pic below it. I’ve seen pic with him in dressing room (possibly after cup semi win in 78’) wearing a white top with the old coat of arms badge on it! Now Bobby was known for not throwing anything away, so his undershirt could have been an old home shirt with collar. Very Robson to recycle!

We were about to sign Pat Jennings in the summer of 1977, but he then chose Arsenal & he said it was partly because he wouldn't need to move house & partly because he felt slighted by the club when he had given them great service & felt he had several good years left in him so he would spite them by going to Arsenal. I also heard Robson pulled out of the deal for some reason (maybe wages). We'll never know, but I think we might have won more with Jennings in goal, although maybe the 1978 FA Cup Final would have been different.

Robson didn't like the fact that Jennings wanted to stay living in the London area so opted out of the deal. He also looked at Shilton but he had committed to joining Forest already.

What about Ray Clemence? He left Liverpool to go to Spurs in 1981. He was a great keeper who should have got more England caps but Shilts edged him out.

Shilton's wage demands were always very high, partly because he was the best goalkeeper in Britain & partly to fund his gambling habit. I doubt Town would have agreed to those.

Probably not. It was actually Shilts himself who told me his move to Forest was already well down the line when Robson came in for him, we had him on Life's a Pitch a number of years ago.
