Really pleased for all the pensioners that will be receiving the fuel payment

But please for once tell the Truth Rachel

BIG FAT LIE - We are bringing back the fuel payment because we have stabilised the economy. If this is true it didn’t take long to sort out the 22 Billion black hole you have been banging on about for the last 10 months

BIG FAT TRUTH - We knew if we didn’t reintroduce payment our chances of winning any elections between now and the General election would be badly affected.

Why are all Politicians liars?

I will wait for all the Labour voters comment ‘ yes but our party doesn’t lie as mush as the previous government

HOW ABOUT NOT LYING AT ALL. COME ON LETS SEE THAT PLAN FOR CHANGE

As a pension but also a voter what Labour fails to realise is it's not just the Winter Fuel Payment that has dragged Labour down.
Stupid net zero policies which means we are paying the highest energy costs in the World.
In turn this is probably one reason Labour are having to reverse the wfp, because if energy costs were lower the need to help pensioners would be less or not needed at all.
What voters cry out for no matter which Party is in power is truth and sadly we haven't had that for a very long time.
Of course there's a need for a certain amount of keeping the public away from sensitive situations but saying things that are clearly untrue based on what a member of that Party has clearly stated before does nothing for the credibility of a Government of whatever colour.

You are somewhat mistaken if you believe our net zero targets are the reason we pay high prices for our electricity.

Whilst accepting there are green levies on our bills (which make them higher than they would otherwise be) the real reason we pay high prices is the structure of our electricity trading market. I did a year (early 90s) working for Eastern Electricity in the team responsible for contracts to purchase electricity - and used to model the market so understand how it was set up.

There is basically a bidding system where providers of power (Be that a power station, gas station, chicken sh1t burner or an owner of renewable windfarms) bid to supply to "the pool" - the bids are ordered on price and they give the orders to all the suppliers upto the forecast demand.

The price paid is set at the bid of the last supplier whose bid wins - everyone gets his price, even those who bid much lower. The bidding process is done every 30 mins - the price jumps around with higher demand times commanding higher prices.

But it is the fact that all the suppliers get the price of the last supplier to bid that is the reason our prices are so high. The system as set up was supposed to keep prices low (and is does if you have excess supply, lots of bidders desperate to sell their power) but when supply is short it rewards all the suppliers with the higher prices and we pay accordingly.

Is a bit complex to explain on one post (And their are other elements to the pricing paid) but that is it in a nutshell. Our system (as set up in the early 90s) is why we pay the highest prices - good old Maggie :-)

To be balanced - we have had far lower prices for decades so it's not been all bad - but it defo is not down to our chasing net zero whatever the reform idiots want you to believe.

The withdrawal of the WFP did not save the govt a penny! What it did was get more pensioners claiming pension credit, which in turn entitles them to more benefits,so this wiped out any ‘savings’ made at a stroke. Now she is going back on the decision which in turn will cost the govt virtually the same money all over again,so basically she has doubled the cost by paying the extra benefits and now the WFP again!

But it is the Labour Party in charge.

They also said pre-election we are going to change the face of politics forever no more sleaze etc

They like to believe they are but they are no different to any previous government or party

It's really sad that you don't recognise the difference between a U Turn on an unpopular policy and sleaze.

Political sleaze: things like the VIP lane, preferred supplier status awarded to people like Michelle Mone and Matt Hancock's local pub's landlord to supply PPE during COVID, whilst some of the biggest NHS suppliers, with established international contacts and global supply chains, were rejected from bidding for the contracts.

Or having parties (plural) in Downing Street, with vomit sprayed around, during a Pandemic, putting cleaning staff at risk, having passed laws banning those same cleaning staff (and all of us) from visiting sick or dying relatives.

Or "Proroguing": illegally closing Parliament early so that MPs couldn't vote against the Government's wishes.

That kind of thing.
