More Safe Standing 07:45 - Jun 12 with 1422 viewsSheffordBlue

The latest Kings of Anglia podcast is the interview with Mark Ashton from which Stu Watson has written a series of articles. Most of it has already come out in the printed articles but when talking about infrastructure projects at the ground Ashton suggests more Safe Standing is coming.

I'm guessing with season ticket renewals already out we'll be looking at next summer rather than this one though?

I would imagine next season too, given some of the other content in that interview, it seems like Ashton needs a break this summer.

That being said, people don't really need to be moved to put safe standing in depending on the location. Block A would be the prime location for it.

If it's a seated stand where everybody already stands then it wouldn't be too much of an issue (e.g SBR Lower). If you're asking people who sit down for much of the game to then stand it wouldn't be ideal if they've already selected their seats for the season as some may not want/be able to stand for long periods.

Isn't A Block already safe standing?

Making the whole lower north safe standing must be the actual aim but where or how to disperse people that want to sit will be the big question. All clears up if we could redevelop the PS.

Most of A Block is already safe standing. The next logical step is the middle of the North/SBR lower.

Think it's only the back half of A isn't it? Would make sense to do it all.
S6 NSL makes sense too, but anywhere else and you would have to give people the option to move.

Fans standing in areas that are designated "safe standing" still essentially have a "seat number" dont they ? And since almost every seat in PR is via a season ticket for a dedicated "seat", there is no requirement to move people who what to stand (they probably already do anyway , in front of their current seat). Just put the barrier up in front of the area, and remove seat ( although I cant see why you'd even need to remove the seats ) .

We are in B block. If they extended the safe standing to that area we would have to move. I could not stand for the whole match.

He better not have a break. We have 2 x strikers and 2 x CMs need signing

Which is why Id leave the seats insitu... then you can opt to stand for a bit. Then sit for a bit, (leaning forward onto barrier if people either side if you weren't prepared to stand back a bit (not ideal but really dont see why you should move).
