Blimey, was that nearly a year ago. I remember well watching it. I’m 100% behind protecting our environment, not so much greenwashing. We’re currently having a cycle path blocked because of newts. It would link a couple of outlying villages to the main cycle network that runs into town and would definitely be well-used by commuters who currently don’t like the narrow busy road. There’s already a road cutting across the marshy area of common and the path would be tiny in area compared to the road and the remaining common (it’s miles across), take cars off the road and make it safer for people/families to cycle in the area. But newts. You could have millions of newts across the rest of the common.

What's so special about bats?
They have been blamed for the Covid 19 outbreak although there is a growing consensus that it escaped from a Chinese lab that was researching viruses.
If they are the conduit that allows viruses to jump species to humans then surely we should be killing them, not giving them hotels and no-go areas.
