Given you only have to be quite close to the status quo to remain a Premier League team at the moment, it does seem quite a risky strategy from Brentford to appoint someone with no experience in the same summer they are selling their captain and also their best player.

Obviously still needs to go quite badly for them to be below one of the promoted teams, but it's a strangely bold choice for them. I do hope they make it work though as I like Brentford as a club.

It seems extremely left-field but then so was McKenna.

Brentford make so few mistakes with recruitment, whether players or staff, you just know they'll probably be proved right. And I hope so, he came across so well when he was on loan with us, 9 goals in 20 from midfield too. Baller.

So the panicking can stop with the potential of KM leaving to join the Bees? Regardless that KM has said he wants to stay with us, if a club really wanted him that badly they would've paid the compensation fee. £5m (if that's the value) for EPL clubs is chump change. KM needs to get back on the horse (excuse the pun) and prove himself once again. He does that, clubs then will start showing a stronger interest, after last season ‘s tepid effort I feel club owner's have their doubts about him.

While I get what you are saying about hoping it works out for Brentford, isn't a season of struggle for the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth etc, exactly what football is crying out for where the current top 17 clubs are fast becoming a closed shop? This will only be broken if someone has a bad summer with best players / management being poached by bigger clubs, or someone completely implodes

It goes against my football instincts but it seems to be better if there were a top 8 or so clubs, and everyone else is unable to breakthrough. That would lead to more churn at the bottom.

More seasons of the likes of Man Utd and Spurs being amongst the bottom of those top 17, while fun, is just enhancing that ever widening gap between Prem and the Championship

It was always going to be an internal appointment, that is how Brentford operate now. I never understood why people thought Brentford would look external.
