For whatever reason, I could never get into the Ramones, probably my loss. Punk wise, UK Subs was my thing back in the day. |
There was a lot of wit with the Ramones, and they basically played what was speeded-up 60s pop music, including quite a few love songs.
If you did want to tip your toe in, I would suggest Leave Home, their second album which has some cracking tunes, and is not as raw as their first album.
I liked the UK Subs too, and remember seeing both them and U2 on TV when U2 were emerging and thinking they were far better than U2. [Post edited 28 Jun 13:59]
