Why are many not happy with young potentially coming in? 21:10 - Jul 21 with 807 views | FrimleyBlue | Despite having johnson. Tuanzebe. Oshea and clarke all playing that right hand role. Only one of them really looked solid enough to do it week in week out and do what we needed them to do. Yet whilst normally you'd say no thanks to a 40 year old nare in mind many have mentioned morsys age etc, including me... however young played what 34 games last season at the highest level of English football against some of the toughest wingers possible and we are seeing this as a negative? Will he last another 3 4 years doubtful But if he does come in and can play that many games and perform how he did then its a big plus for us. And just thinking of the guidance he could give a johnson/clarke could be massive. I personally would love to see him sign. Had he come from a fellow champ side and played maybe 12 games then I'd have a different view but he's got to have some bloody good natural fitness at his age to cope with prem football like he did

Why are many not happy with young potentially coming in? on 21:18 - Jul 21 with 719 views | mutters | Personally it sounds like a good signing. Who cares if he is 40, he played very well last season for Everton, has a wealth of experience, players at some very good clubs over the years. Brings knowledge, leadership and I suspect will take on a dual role as he transitions into a coaching position. Don't forget we are losing leadership out of the dressing room and this will help. Also last season we signed a lot of youngsters who have a lot to prove and make their way in the game. Young will help balance that out. He's here for now not for the future. Why are many not happy with young potentially coming in? on 21:31 - Jul 21 with 613 views | BloomBlue | I think its more about getting in players who will be (or least potentially) capable of playing in the PL next season when we're promoted. I dont see Young being PL capable next season. However if its more about getting him into the club with focus on him moving towards a coaching role - but also able to play, I don't have an issue with that. Last season proved huge overhaul of a squad rarely work in the PL. We need to reduce that when promoted back next season. I guess a lot of fans are looking at Young and thinking, thats one position which will have to be automatically updated next season, hence find someone younger (excuse the pun).
Why are many not happy with young potentially coming in? on 22:15 - Jul 21 with 418 views | Mark | I think it is natural that signing a 40 year old would raise a few questions, especially as Luongo (32) and Morsy (33) are leaving partly on account of their age. Surely if Young signs it will be with mentoring and future coaching in mind.

Johnson and Clarke (with O Shea and even potentially Kipre) are plenty good enough to fill that role at this level. He won't come cheap either in terms of wages

I'm not sure it's just about strengthening the right back position; more the whole right side in general. We were very weak on the right side last season once we'd lost Burns and Ogbene. With one of them still injured and the other only just coming back, Young's signing could be about providing a bit of reassurance from back to front on the right.
