But what about Sudan, Haiti, Yemen, Congo, Ethiopia, Mali and Niger ?

I am not down playing the Gaza issue. Just saying they are not the only ones who are suffering and they all deserve our attention and help.

+Myanmar. The situation in Sudan is critical. You'll not see much coverage on this forum though, doesn't involve Israel.

Are any of those being starved out of existence by a US and UK backed nuclear power with the worlds 3rd biggest military through the flagrant use of war crimes?

You're right they do all deserve attention, but unfortunately in the context of this thread, it comes over as some outstanding whataboutery.

I'm sure we are all against any genocide, but I'm find it especially egregious that one is being committed by supposed allies of the UK that our government is turning a complete blind eye to.

I'll have you know that what is going on in Gaza is part of the international rules-based order that the West is supposedly so keen on!

Anyway, an update. Apparently Israel are now happier with Hamas’ demands and there’s an expectation an agreement could be reached that would see the return of hostages and a lot more much needed aid int Gaza.

This from about three hours aga tells a slightly different story. As it is, the US is hardly independent when it comes to Israel. And whilst Trump might suggest he wants peace, nothing that has happened since he was elected suggests he is other than operating in cahoots with Netanyahur.

US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff said that the Donald Trump administration has decided to bring its consultation team home from the Gaza ceasefire talks in Doha.

In a post on X, Witkoff said:

We have decided to bring our team home from Doha for consultations after the latest response from Hamas, which clearly shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza. While the mediators have made a great effort, Hamas does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good faith.”

He went on to add:

“We will now consider alternative options to bring the hostages home and try to create a more stable environment for the people of Gaza. It is a shame that Hamas has acted in this selfish way. We are resolute in seeking an end to this conflict and a permanent peace in Gaza.”

Yeah, awful. There are atrocities being carried out in many places. The difference between Gaza and those you mention is that we’re not funding the later (we are a bit, but nowhere near the scale of the support we’re providing to Israel). But you’re quite right that we should be calling for the government to do whatever they can to end such attrocities. If nothing else, more stability in those regions means fewer refugees, some of which we have to deal with. Cutting the aid budget is a false economy,

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Yes (aside from the the having nuclear weapons bit):

- Yemen, where US/UK-backed Saudi government is intervening
- Sudan, where the US/UK-backed UAE government is supporting the rebel Rapid Support Forces
