Why do we find it so hard to land quality striker targets? (Not a moan) 19:02 - Aug 1 with 695 views | Matt_Netherlands | Strikers (good ones anyway) are a pretty rare commodity in the modern game, but it seems like every window we really struggle to find quality additions for that position. Is it because of the system we play, meaning they need really specific attributes? Or are we (rightfully) just very picky? This summer - New season a week away and we haven’t landed anyone despite a big hole there. Jan 2025- didn’t feel like somewhere we were hugely targeting Summer 2024 - Signed Delap who was a big hit but it’s no secret we wanted to bring another in January 2024 - Signed AAH who the jury is still out on and then Kieffer who did a job but seemed a last minute stop gap so would assume other targets didn’t come off. Summer 2023 - signed Hirst who is obviously a massive hit. Signed Dane Scarlett too who was the complete opposite. 22/23 season - Signed Ladapo who did a job at L1 level. Also signed TJJ who was pretty hit and miss.
Why do we find it so hard to land quality striker targets? (Not a moan) on 19:15 - Aug 1 with 592 views | billlm | I suppose with town it's our system it's just one up top, I know players don't often play 90 minutes under McKenna so you have to accept that before you come here, This season in particular unless we pull a big rabbit out of the hat GH is our striker your going to play second fiddle, Strikers want to play, It's an extremely difficult position to fill,
Why do we find it so hard to land quality striker targets? (Not a moan) on 19:31 - Aug 1 with 516 views | waveneyblue | Couldn't you say this for proberly 98% of all clubs. Its also a mute point as to what is a "quality striker" We need somebody who Is happy to be behind Hirst in the pecking order Can play in our system Has a sell on value. As has been said a million times before, its not Football Manager

Why do we find it so hard to land quality striker targets? (Not a moan) on 20:11 - Aug 1 with 365 views | Nutkins_Return | Kieffer Moore wasn't a stop gap. He was exactly what we needed and was superb. Think if we hadn't gone up we sign him. But it went so well we didn't sign him! In last few windows: Delap Hirst Al Hamadi Moore Ladapo Not bad at all. Al Hamadi jury still out on. Rest were clearly good signings in the context of where we were. Yes we've had a few that didn't quite pan out but we got £1 million for Ahadme so worked out, even if jury out on Al Hamadi I think we make a profit. Scarlett didn't work out but understandable signing. It's a myth this thing with us and strikers but yes it's a competitive position to sign players

Why do we find it so hard to land quality striker targets? (Not a moan) on 20:37 - Aug 1 with 277 views | FrimleyBlue | Possibly imo because they've got to be better than Hirst. He's had his injury issues. But he's a bloody good forward. He's not a striker in my mind he's a forward and this is our problem. Strikers are out there. We had one last season. It didn't work with the team or style we had. And I think that's why we struggle. We aren't looking for a striker. We are looking for a forward and there aren't that many out there who aren't already picked up.
