Philogene and Omari 11:40 - Aug 4 with 1173 views | Wright1 | I know it's easy when it isn't my money and I don't have to deal with an unhappy player... but surely depending on the extent of Jaden's injury there comes a point where we have to keep Omari even if the bids keep creeping up? Omari-Szmodics-J.Clarke with Ogbene, Chaplin, maybe Broadhead and/or maybe a new recruit and Burns to come back still looks really dangerous at this level. I'd really start to worry if we lose Omari from that and with Burns and Philogene potentially out of the picture for the forseeable. It would leave us short or with a lot to do even with a big pot of cash - and ripe for getting our pants pulled down in the market.

I agree, I can't realistically see a world where we are able to turn that kind of money. However, it could really leave us in a strangely precarious position.

Do the deal, get the money and go and get one on the list pencilled in for Omaris departure. Maybe we're already doing that. Think I'm more worried about CM and striker.

I don't think it's about being surprised. It is about having new information with a potentially long lay off for one of our other attacking midfielders - maybe our next best one and the most comparable in skillset. Money makes the world go around so it probably doesn't change anything... but i'd equally rather bank £100m in promotion money at the end of the season and whatever we get for Omari at that stage than £40m now.

We got promoted with both as starting players last time, they are easily good enough to make the bench now.
| They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all! | Poll: | Who should start in CM with Cajuste? |

We did but that was 18 months ago, Wes will be coming back from a bad injury too.

Chappers is easily good enough for the bench and Burns has done nothing to suddenly have claims he's not good enough. Absolute rubbish

Yes, CM and striker are certainly more of a concern, although Philogene's injury certainly changes the dynamic somewhat. If Philogene hadn't got injured, I wouldn't think that we have to replace Omari this year, just put the funds into the CM/striker kitty. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

For me the balance is a bit off in our attacking department and injuries make things quite unpredictable. L10 - Philogene, J.Clarke, Broadhead is very strong but Jaden is injured and Broadhead may be on his bike. R10 - Chaplin not played much football in the last year and Szmodics who is best running beyond the striker in to space - not something I expect him to be afforded if we dominate the ball the way we should do this season. RM - Burns and Ogbene both coming off major injuries. Wes still not available for the foreseeable. I wouldn't be against one or two incomings even if it means someone has to go to readdress the balance.
