This murder in Brantham had passed me by but hearing the family statements... on 12:42 - Aug 6 with 839 views | textbackup | I do a lot of dog walking, 2/3 times a day, and I often see middle aged ladies walking out at 0500 2100 and think I might not feel safe if I were them. Especially in the winter. Horrible that a peaceful activity such as a walk could end up in such a tragic crime

Yep. Likewise with dog walking and running. Often in secluded woods. Wouldn't want my Mrs on her own in those places.

Statistically, I would imagine, much safer than walking the streets of any city.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cyvn30vj582t 'Judge Martyn Levett is telling the court about Roy Barclay's attack on a "helpless" 82-year-old in 2015 in Essex. This is something he is taking into account for his sentencing. He says Barclay "without warning" attacked this man and for 53 seconds beat him. Judge Levett says the victim in this case suffered a detached jaw, fractures to his eye sockets and had to have 10 titanium pieces fitted to his head.'

The judge earlier called Barclay "an unpredictable, dangerous man... prone to terrible outbursts of violence" Put simply in pre-millennium terminology he's a psycho Aka severe mental health issues which, unmedicated, leads to extreme behaviours

Well, yes, but why that woman and on that morning ? More importantly, why was he released ? 'Roy Barclay had been on the run from the authorities for more than two years when he murdered Anita Rose in July 2024...was released on parole in 2020...When he breached the terms of his licence, he became a fugitive from the law.' Actually, I suspect we know why he was released. There are more people in prison than can be humanely looked after and there are insufficient numbers of psychiatric experts to assess who should be allowed out. Beyond that, the probation service is at breaking point so he was always in a 'good' position to escape being monitored. All that being said, why didn't he keep his head down ? We can call him a psycho but I want to know what triggered his murderous impulse, this is important for maintaining a system of law.
