Two episodes in and the Birmingham / Brady TV show is 15:02 - Aug 6 with 1060 viewsIllinoisblue

Not as bad as I thought it might be. We’ll ignore the opening and not at all scripted and planed shot of Brady in the car asking about Villa and how they’re going to fk them up - nearly switched off after that. But it gets better.

The similarities between us and them are stark:
Neglected once proud club on its ass
Crumbling infrastructure
Series of useless managers and terrible signings

Enter the Americans
Money
Vision
Ambition
Young manager who’s done the hard yards of coaching after not much of a playing career

Of course, their bright young managerial appointment was preceded by the Rooney debacle. You almost feel bad for Wayne - looking like a bloated bin liner in a baseball hat - trying to talk to his players. Might as well have a dog trying to recite poetry.

Two episodes in, Brady says fk a lot. Bantering with Wrexham after beating them. I’m forever grateful our American owners are low-key no-names. The circus is too much. Just hope we’re not playing the part of the clowns on Friday night.

Thought it was pretty watchable to be fair, got one left to go.

Brady was a late round draft pick, a back up QB to start his career and became the greatest ever, so even if people hate him (I personally don't) there is no doubt he's grinded his way to the top in many respects. Obviously had talent but not elite athleticism and just learned to win, plenty of that can crossover in terms of mentorship. He knows nothing about the sport and doesn't seem to pretend to but it's all a bit of a side hustle with his commitments over here really.

Wagner, didn't know much about him before the show but is clearly just very wealthy and successful Wall Street guy who happens to be a Patriots fan so hung around with him in certain circles, not a fan, remember him walking around the pitch before a game giving it large last season. I wouldn't want that kind of stuff at ITFC.

I have not done much research but who are the football people at Brum? If it was just Wagner and bready it would surely fail. They do seem to have learned from the Rooney disaster though and kind of went the same route as us for an appointment, which seems to be working.

I did enjoy the Streets intro, the Peaky Blinder in clips and there was a segment on the Zulu's in Ep3 which made it in.

Season 2 with be a laugh with this Akpom Saga lol.

I’d seen so much hate and negativity towards it I was really expecting it to be terrible. So was pleasantly surprised. Brady - and a lot of Americans in general - have that “well why can’t we do that?” attitude and then go make it happen. You apply that (and lots of cash) to a football club with potential and that will take you a long way. Momentum is powerful.

Do they become likeable though? Ive watched one episode and Brady is just a complete Kn#b. But in a way where you can see why he has been so successful and when you are that level of success it's going to give just about anyone an ego. I really can't warm to the guy though and glad we don't have someone like that around our club. He's a total distraction as well. If I'm them I'd be happy to have him raise the profile and then get rid (or put him out of the media).

You are right about the parallels though. We seem on a collision course for rivalry to be honest

I think the fact yourself and the OP are surrounded by Americans on a daily basis (I presume) means you can tolerate Brady and Wagner.

Personally, I can't stand them, and find it cringe when they say things like, "I was hoping we'd smash the sh1t out of them", and "We're gonna fck them up". Sounds like theyre trying too hard.

I said I don't like Wagner. I have watched brady and listened to Brady for two decades as an NFL fan, some nothing new there.

I’m still thinking initially of Karren Brady whenever i see Birmingham and that name mentioned .. I’m guessing the coming season will sort that personal irritation out.

Karren Brady? Is it a football version of Back To The Future and we’re in the 1990s?
