Jack Taylor 07:24 - Aug 9 with 737 views | Zonderman | I don’t think anyone knows what sort of a midfielder he is at Town. Even his performances leave me mystified as to what his role is. Really need him to take an opportunity as they are stacking up and I can’t remember him ever really putting his stamp on a match in the way he needs to. Seems to me when Cajuste is up to speed he’ll continue to be an asset from the bench.

I've always liked Taylor, he 'always' gives it everything he's got. For me, I feel he's always been a more 'attack' minded central midfielder, doing his best work further up the pitch. A bit of an old school box to box midfielder. However, we don't really use our two CMs in that way. Out of possession they are holding CDM midfielders and in possession they link between defence and our attacking midfielders but still mainly sit allowing the side players to push on. He can play this role but he's not suited to it, his positional isn't quite there. He's more suited to the CAM role, higher up the pitch but here he's not quite creative enough to play that role and doesn't have that ability to find space that, say, Chappers does. Couple the above with a lack of consistent playing time and low confidence and its a real shame but I can't see it working.

He put in the effort but I don’t see what he brings to a midfield 2, we need a player who can take the ball under high pressure, turn lay off or play through the lines. He can’t do that. If you play him further foward he can’t beat a man or run at pace.

Jack Taylor on 07:55 - Aug 9 with 508 views | BseaBlue | I've made the point on a few occasions that when he comes off the bench, he makes a good impact on games. When he starts however, he doesn't. I think he is a good player and tidy technically, but he just doesn't suit the system here at all. It was obvious last night that centre midfield is a huge priority If anything, Humphreys did a lot more on the ball than Taylor did in the whole match. I wouldn't be adverse to him starting with Matusiwa to be honest (especially if Chaplin starts as well and we play how we know we can)

I agree with a lot of that but Taylor is very quick and can run at pace. Thought he was ok in a very tricky match last night. He's never going to be a dominant CM but he does have some good qualities. I genuinely wouldn't mind seeing what Humphreys can do because he just looked so comfortable and natural in that ball.

Correctly put in my opinion. He's an 8 and we normally play 2 6s. Very much a better player than people give him credit for.
