Poor old Ali, missed a sitter
Bound to get slagged off on Twitter
Stepped up to take the crucial pen
Exited the cup again!

He’s not having a good week is he?

At this level he's not worth his salt,
To be fair to the kid, that ain't his fault.

We've accelerated faster than plan,
Lets not be too hard on the man.

He's put in a shift and done his best,
But ultimately failed the test.

I wish him well wherever he goes,
Will he make it? No-one knows

A big squad cleanse and welcome Jens,
Just please don't let Ali take more pens.

Alright Pam Ayres. I still wonder what the plan was for AAH and what KM saw in him. Injuries haven’t helped, for sure, but even so just doesn’t look like the player we need or needed.

‘Football’s a confidence game’ and it’s been a negative spiral of that for him, sadly. The more he misses easy opportunities or pens, the more nervous he gets, which travels down to his legs, making him more likely to miss next time. Needs to move somewhere else to rediscover his inner footballing self I think.

I think McKenna's been let down a touch tbh. Ali was a pretty cheap punt who we'll spin off at a small profit no doubt, but he probably shouldn't have played anywhere near the minutes he has for us. He's been used when we've had little or no alternatives and in needs must situations. Against Newcastle he wasn't used when we had no alternative. The fact we've found ourselves turning to him as much as we have is pretty telling of our inability to fully resource our centre forward options in his time here IMO.

Its a bit of an insult to the Club and to the youth players that he gets so many opportunities.
There must be some of the youngsters looking on thinking blimey what have I got to do to get ahead of him in the pecking order for opportunities.
Doesnt bode well for our U21 attacking options if there isnt anyone worth chucking on instead of AAH.
Im trying not to be disrespectful to Ali but his performance was embarrassing on Tuesday - and not for the first time.

Hopefully he’ll get a decent move and have a good career. Seems like a decent fella.

Yeah I’m saddened by the amount of unpleasant comments (social media more than here tbf). Always gives his all for the team even if the end product hasn’t always been there. Plenty of players who’ve turned out for us and given a fraction of the effort and passion.

Best thing he can do is get himself over to Toulouse, score a few goals, enjoy his 400,000 EUR a year and drink loads of nice wine.
