Losing at Preston is not that bad a result 00:16 - Aug 24 with 704 viewsNthsuffolkblue

However failing to win any of our first 3 has put us on the back foot. We really need to win and go on a winning run. All our attacking players look shot of confidence.

It's kind of bad? I mean, Preston were not very good and usually they draw. I'd say it's bad.

I don’t know it’s your post is just weirdly worded but of course it’s a bad result lol.

Did you mean to say failing to win or something?

I think we seem to have carried this underdog mentality from our previous Championship campaign. The stakes and expectation are (rightly) much higher now, our squad value and spending blows 20 teams out of the water. McKenna I’m sure knows this, but seemingly not all our fans do. It’s a long season ahead but undeniably a bad start, especially in the context of last season.

Some of the stuff on here is almost unreadable in terms of people’s expectations in the reality of the parachute era.

A few I’ve seen today:

- We were the better side
- Happy with playoffs
- Played well
- Not that bad of a result

Sometimes fills like a desperate search for positives when we are not creating enough to win games so far this season.

Pretty sure their first team cost about the same as Ogbene combined. There’s pressure for a good reason and we haven’t got until mid October to figure it out either. We can all see there’s been issues with recruitment strategy, I’ve been vocal about that for a year but we have a very highly paid manager and it’s now his job to get it to work in the Champ.

I’ve got confidence in him and us to do so but some of our fan base needs to understand where we are at as well. We spent all last season talking about the financial disadvantages and the value that our opposition were bringing off the bench. We can’t now go into this one with let’s see what happens.

It’s very early days and August can be a tricky month to navigate but don’t like some of the stuff being thrown around either in terms of trying to dampen the expectations. They very much remain.

It is poorly worded. Of course a defeat is 0 points. But what I mean is we lost there 2 seasons ago, they are a difficult side to play against, they beat Leicester there, they aren’t going to be promotion rivals (although could be play off rivals at this rate). We were beaten by a stronger, cynical side but had we taken better shots should have got something from the game.

I also think the previous two were good points. However, we need wins. We are clearly low on confidence.

Purely from a league point of view, we’ve dropped points that could prove expensive at the end of the season.
If we miss out on something by a couple of points, it’s these that we’ll regret as much as any in April.

Losing to Preston IS a bad result. With the riches we have compared to others in this league it not a level playing field and we should expect to beat teams like Preston, or at least not lose.

There are of course mitigating circumstances ( such as having lots of new players etc ) but I don't think it can be dressed up as anything other than a bad result.
