he is getting right know. He's overseen a truly appalling spell over the last 12 months even after all the excuses throw at it. Simply has not been good enough and his reputation is taking a bit of a battering. Despite all of this, he is a genuine talent, a fabulous human-being and 100% still the only man for the job now and in the long-term imo. I wouldn't change him for anyone.

As a promoted side with a significant amount of players bought in league 1 the prem was always going to be incredibly tough and Leicester and Soton were just as bad.
So really last season was a free hit for him for me, this season way too early to tell and there have been significant improvement since Birmingham. |  |

As a promoted side with a significant amount of players bought in league 1 the prem was always going to be incredibly tough and Leicester and Soton were just as bad.
So really last season was a free hit for him for me, this season way too early to tell and there have been significant improvement since Birmingham. |

Clarke, Delap, Hutchinson, Philogene, Ogbenne etc etc

Well we had Wolf, Burgess, Burns, Chaplin, Hirst, Leif, Morsy, Mass, Broady, Walton, Clarke, Ali that’s half a squad and all played games in the prem.
If this is denial how come almost no sides promoted stay in the prem ? It’s clearly a very very difficult task and getting harder every year, any other view point is denial on your part - it doesn’t matter if you spend £1 or £150m. | |

Brighton have sold six players for more than £25m*, all of them during the period since they became an established Prem club. Three of them were sold to Chelsea. One came through the Youth teams.
The most expensive player they sold before they were at least four years into their current Prem run was Knockaert, for about £10m.
They've had a few big hits, not exactly a vast stream of talent passing through.

I am sorry that is a ridiculous post. There are many things that go into having a strong 1st team performing well. We clearly got promoted too soon, and even this pre-season we have struggled to get deals done. I can't see you can blame McKenna for this.
What you can blame McKenna for is the abject start to the season, the players are coasting, and don't realise every other team wants a piece of us, they are up for it, they will scrap for every ball. But I don't see him shying away for it. [Post edited 27 Aug 10:16]

Hmm...our squad is expensively recruited by Football League standards. Southampton was an improvement on the Birmingham performance, but 4 shots on target in 3 games tells its own story. Even McKenna has admitted that out attacking play is ineffective & I will interested to see what he does to improve it. If we don't manage a win at home to struggling Derby and/or Sheffield United, who have 1pt between them after 6 games, there really will be an issue. |  |
