Egeli had 60 shots… on 22:57 - Aug 29 with 1471 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | That leagues a bit of a joke at the top European levels to be honest, so don’t expect that level of shooting, stats won’t carry out over but he’s clearly not afraid to have a pop. PSV, Porto, Club Brugge all wanted him, tells you all you need to know from a scouting perspective. Most excited I’ve been about a signing for a lot of reasons, such a high ceiling. I imagine the only reason a Sunderland or Leeds wouldn’t have done this kind of deal is because he’s probably not ready to instantly go into that league and he’s not going to help to stay up this season for that kind of money. It’s fantastic business on paper and shows how the championship in the parachute era is basically a top 5 European league. If it doesn’t work out I can’t fault the ambition here at all especially with the the fees we’ve been throwing around since we’ve had cash. Love it and genuinely didn’t think it would happen. Oh yes, I know, I agree - just tempering some expectations. People will quickly forget he’s 18 and very raw if he hits a few speculative 30 yarders over the bar, like the brilliance of Delap sometimes got forgotten as the season wore people down. In some ways, I almost wonder if we won’t see the best of him in a Town shirt for a couple of seasons - this season to adapt and learn (I think it’s a big ask to expect him to tear up the Championship), next season hopefully in the Prem, then catches fire after that. It’s £20m, his ceiling is high, but it’s a long-term investment/project for sure - like you say, that the promoted clubs haven’t got the ability to gamble on right now.

Egeli had 60 shots… on 23:15 - Aug 29 with 1188 views | burnbudgiesburn | I like that he is versatile... can play any forward position judging from the youtube clips. Looks technically excellent, quick feet... almost Hutchinson like. I wonder where we plan to play him? One thing the youtube reels don't show is off the ball work, always remember the first few games Hutchinson gave the impression of a show pony throwing his arms up after being tackled then something clicked and he made some good defensive tackles and got the crowd onside.

Yes, the left footedness will draw Omari comparisons, for sure. Much taller though. Kieran’s magic transformed Omari off the ball, plain and simple.

I think Omari's first season here is possibly the template, mainly used as a sub for the first half and even as late as Wimbledon in the cup in January he struggled to have a really strong impact for more than 30 minutes or so but once he got that goal against West Brom he went up a level. Egeli has had more first team football but it might take half a season for him to get going. I agree with you and JJJJ though, a really exciting signing with a lot of upside potential. Think it was quite important to get that profile of player in with the loss of Omari in particular.
