It's very early days! We'll know more in 10 games but I think anyone who has watched sides develop understands it isn't immediate.
KM is a coach with strong principles and we play that way because he feels over the course of the season it will mean the greatest return.

Gelling is a thing but surely it's more sensible during that gelling stage to keep the game as natural for players as possible.. for example the Davis nverted role. Remove that and let him be the fullback he was whilst we bring players into the squad. [Post edited 31 Aug 13:07]

If a manager knows the players he wants & knows how he thinks they will fit into his system, "gelling" isn't a problem. McKenna has been accumulating expensive purchases, but there's been very little evidence that he knows how to mould them into a team. |  |

I never claimed to be the oracle of all knowledge!
For what it's worth, I think we had a decent chance to stay up, yes. I think in the first half of the season we showed the qualities that could have seen us do so and competed well in most games. We suffered from not getting that win earlier and then found it hard to keep momentum going into a second half of the season which became very tough.
Probably a fully firing and fit Kalvin Phillips and not losing Tuanzebe and who knows.
It was a strange season. We weren't good enough but we weren't as bad as it looked either. |

The team were decimated by injuries. Ensisco played only half of the possible games through injury. Both Clark and philogene got injuries so they never got to play much either. Add to that a new midfield this season so it was always going to take a while before we are really clicking along.
We have players coming back after serious injuries, who needs time to get up to speed.
We need to improve, we have the personnel, just give the new boys some time. The more they play the better it will become. | | | |

Absolutely. And yet there are comments that our squad is the best in the league, and that we shouldn't take top six now because we're good enough for top 2. These notions are embarrassingly conceited, have no respect for our opponents, and no respect for the arithmetic of how this league works.
In a league where supposedly anyone can beat anyone, we don't seem to be able to beat anyone. We have no divine right to, either.
Right now I'm praying that Egeli is the second coming. Based on his goal on Monday, it's actually possible that he might be. |
