I love the bloke, an ITFC hero but he’s not first choice 10 post this international break.
He was also awful when he came on against Preston, was snatching at chances against Southampton and didn’t pick a pass a few times on Saturday in a good areas, notably to Philogene after the Cajuste flick.
I understand why but I think fans have got a bit carried away about this one thinking it’s still 2023. Surprised it’s a loan instead of a permanent but wasn’t sure he would be even first off the bench once we got the squad settled.
You could have just de-registered H Clarke though but it’s probably a case of Chaplin wanting to play for Pompey and us doing right by him in that sense. [Post edited 1 Sep 16:11]

Yeah his early season form has been pretty crap let's be honest. Agree with general feeling that if we decided the time was to move on then we should be trying to find a buyer rather than loaning him while his contract runs out, mind. |  |

Yeah of course we've signed some good players, that's table stakes though. We had to replace what we already lost and we were an attractive parachute payment club.
You can't honestly tell me you felt like we would end the summer with Cam Humphreys and Elkan Baggott as part of the 25 man squad.
