Ive a funny feeling we're going to regret ogbene going on loan this year. Im far from one of his cheerleaders but after reading his media piece and his involvement against some solid opposition tonight im questioning what we may of done here. Blades will be excited for sure.

No he hasn’t. He’s worked hard off the ball. And been neat and tidy on it. He’s not set the world alight admittedly, but abysmal my rse

Ran around a lot but was not very effective. He did have an assist for the first Irish goal. Ogbene was like a man possesed and showed no sluggishness when he came on. Jack had his compulsory blaze over the bar when in a good scoring position. O' Shea had a solid if uninspiring game and McAteer was not on long enough to register. It was like watching Ipswich in the first half, majority of possesion, lots of passing between the backs, every time we lost possesion we looked like we would concede. Go in 0-2 down. Completely different in the second half which was aided by a red card ( should have won it at the end ). P.S. Alan Idah scored at the end, I think we missed a trick not going for him when he came available. He would have been perfect for our 1 player up front setup. [Post edited 6 Sep 22:13]

They were much better when Idah csme on. Sammy and Azaz kept dropping too deep which meant Ferguson was isolated.

He makes runs tries to make things happen. And is neat and tidy with the ball. He's been far from dreadful if you actually watch him

That may be the case, and the media piece was certainly impressive. However, I feel that Kieran has already moved on. We've spent a lot of money in that position, very recently. He certainly had a horror injury, but he's played for us recently, and he's now playing international football. He doesn't need to go out on loan to get his fitness up, surely? And a one year loan with no recall seems the clincher for me. We'll want to get as much money for him as possible, ultimately, and so the spin that he needs to go on loan to get up to speed maybe makes sense. But our right wing options would need to be (yet further) flops in order for Ogbene to get back into Kieran's plans, one would think.

on current form i find it hard to argue a case for Smodzics starting for club or country. He just doesn't add enough to the final third, which is also true for other players in the Town line up.
