Not sure if it's by design or if that's just the way it played out, but who fecking cares. Tonight was just the medicine and hopefully will now bring confidence gushing from the group.

Had to be tactical. Hirst was playing as a midfielder at times off the ball. At one point in open play we had about 8 player in and around our own box. It does make sense to be looking down that avenue as if we do go back up that's pretty much how we have to play in the prem.

Do I sense a bit of a change in style? on 23:05 - Sep 12 with 1494 views | WeWereZombies | Too early to tell for me, when Akpom was on the pitch he sat behind Hirst more than Smozdics (or Chaplin, remember him ?) does; this makes the three more of a triple prong than the previous attacking line. Also Cajuste is more of a winning touch and feed player whereas Luongo carried the ball; again the substitution changed things as Núñez seems to have a freer role (but that might just be from the freedom that coming onto the pitch when we are 4-0 up brings.) I would like to think that McKenna had a game plan for the Blades that involved drawing them in and hitting back when they were a bit out of shape, the tactics will undoubtedly be different for Blackburn and am interested to see what develops in that match.

We also now have the squad to adjust to the opposition challenges.

'This has been an excellent night. It has ended Ipswich's barren spell. They are up and running. I am wondering if that is going to be the style of play. Sheffield United - who are not a bad team - dominated the ball for long spells and enabled Ipswich to play a way that I haven't seen under Kieran McKenna before. They were counter-attacking. They were quick and divisive, but played differently from all those games in League One, the Championship and the Premier League.' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c7408r78j39t#LiveReporting @ 22:28

Absolutely on 08:23 - Sep 13 with 442 views | Dyland | McKenna is always learning. These comments (from good friends and family I go with as well as on here) about his rigid tactics are such bollix. To me, it's a developing style that will not only win us games in the Champ but if we can get promoted again will give us a better chance in the Prem.

Do I sense a bit of a change in style? on 08:25 - Sep 13 with 426 views | franz_tyson | Was it more Sheff U trying, at least, to play football rather than us sitting back? There will be teams who’ll look at last night's game and the Derby game... and just sit back even further to frustrate us. We can only hit teams on the break if they come onto us. Even so.... Philogene has his shooting boots on. Whatever style.... we have to shoot better. Big improvement. And think Egeli and Nunez aren't scared of shooting from distance.

I thought we'd huff and puff through September and that may still be the case, but there are very encouraging signs with our style of play. Obviously Blades' awful defending is a big caveat, but a timely confidence boost for when we inevitably come up against more Derbyesque spoiling tactics.
