Without getting too excited as United were pretty poor, McKenna has turned a group of players that have never payed together and most not played his system into a solid looking squad.
One thing I really liked tonight was he seems to have reversed on his desire to make Life an inverted fullback which really benefited Philogene.
Heard a few fans in the first half moaning that Sheff United were having most of the ball which is a little unlike us. But whether it was the intention or not it really worked, the midfield stealing the ball and turning it over to Philogene caught them out time and strike again.
Overall incredible performance given the past few weeks and gives a real positive outlook. |  |

Yes we got a lot right tonight- getting balls in the box taking on the full backs. Will probably get shot down but Sheff Utd were worse than not very good. They were dreadful.
Definitely a wonderful result but I’m taking with a pinch of salt at this point. Sheff Utd controlled the ball for reasonable periods and their finishing was dreadful (as was their GK). Absolutely enjoyed it and a good confidence boost but not sure how much I can take from that. | | | |

I thought it was deliberate to just sit in front of them and ket them make mistakes... there were very few high press moments and certainly not the concerted high press we have used in the past but when we did steal the ball we always looked more likely to score. Once we had the 2nd we began to exert more pressure pressing and Nunez introduction suddenly reduced the number of times possession was lost as i dont think he gave it away once? Lest we forget, when he took over from The Sainted Paul Cook, a side that had spent months looking like strangers looked coherent pretty quickly. Like, within days. Despite him being smarmy.
Don't underestimate KM's ability to to gel a side. Or, adapt his tactics. NGL, I think the last year has been a steep learning curve for him but we looked pretty bloody handy today albeit a work in progress playing against a surprisingly(gmcven their recent history) rubbish Blades team [Post edited 13 Sep 0:37]

No surprise to me that we steamrolled them 2nd half. After a relatively even first half.
What ever messages he got across to the lads at half time. Be that slight tactical tweaks, or just motivation. Certainly saw us stamp on a wounded opposition.
Yes, they crumbled at 2-0, 3-0. But we earned that.
Think that's a 24 game unbeaten run at home in the Championship now. So, at this level at least. KM gets it right a lot more often than not.
It's weird though, imo. Despite the score line, I felt like we were only at 75%-80%. There's more to come when some of the newer lads are totally dialled in.

I think a couple of the lads on the bench will move in to become regulars so definitely gonna get stronger.
Not sure what midfield paring we will see for the majority but good to have that headache. Egeli and Azon both came on and impressed too | |
