The slope is getting more slippery by the day. Kimmel didn’t even make fun of Kirk (as is being reported), he made fun of Trump’s reaction to being asked about how he felt after the death of one of his supposed friends, and immediately started talking about how he’s building a big beautiful ballroom at the White House.

Can’t criticize the King in the land of the free.

Evidently the 1st ammendment is not as important as the FCC approving media companys' acquisitions!

The administration tentacles continue to wrestle control away from democratic principles.

I think I saw in another recent thread a discussion around what the correct nomenclature for such actions are...

9 months into this term...something has to break at some point Shirley?

it's an example of the 'chilling effect' of attacks on free speech. in the end it means that censors don't need to act, instead their targets, in this case abc, self-censor out of fear of the consequences.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

It seems a very obvious, anti-democratic power grab taking place in plain sight. And yet the response in America appears to be very muted (when viewed from this side of the pond).

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Just posting this for context.

BBC News - Jimmy Kimmel taken off air over Charlie Kirk comments
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c203n52x1y9o

Kimmel has done nothing other than his job to provide a wry commentary on current events.
This is no different than the fair served up on HIGNFY. It's satirical and nothing else.
And rather than enjoying all the lavish trappings currently provided by his host, the man baby with the bone china ego chose to post about it. CAPITALS included of course.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

As I mentioned on another thread it is ironic that the death of someone who advocated free speech is being met by an attack on free speech.

It's cancel culture pure and simple.
