The only Town player to score hat-trick & not to be on the winning side in over 60 years was Kevin Wilson when we drew 3-3 away to Crystal Palace in 1986.
Funnily enough this was the first game I actually saw a Town player score a hat-trick for us. Remember the game well. How we didn't win I never know. 3-1 up we missed plenty of chances. But some young kid called Ian Wright had other ideas.
Edit - Other times when a Town player went onto score a hat-trick & not be on the winning side (since the club went professional) was in 1964. Gerald Baker when we suffered a 6-3 defeat at White Hart Lane against Spurs. & no Jimmy Greaves was not on the scoresheet that day. https://www.prideofanglia.com/page.php?page=matchReport&day=4&month=4&am

Do people have favourites? I was probably slightly too young to really appreciate Magic’s vs Bolton, so I think Bowditch’s is mine. I loved him as a young lad.
I seem to recall Dean Bowditch’s hat-trick being described as one of the worst due to a Lenny Pidgeley masterclass. He was already being linked to Liverpool at the time so was rather concerned that he would also be leaving on the cheap.

Spoke to Lenny Pidgeley a few years ago about this very game when I come across him at Farnborough when I was a coach at Hendon. I made a jovial jab after the game in the bar that I was behind the goal in Churchman's that day in 2004 but wish I hadn't.
Felt dreadful when he said that was the game that changed his life & has struggled with anxiety & depression ever since. Told him he was a kid back in those days but my callous comment very much hurt him which I deeply regret & still do today.

Oh good grief, sorry to hear that it had such an impact on him. The match was on Sky which provided a higher profile than the usual at that time. Just shows that it is far more than just a game to many.

I think Evans' Knee slide on completing his hattrick , is worthy of a mention, here. Possibly the best we've ever seen at Portman Road. And a rare highpoint during the Cook era.
I may be wrong but I have a feeling that was also Sam Morsy's debut for us?
It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
