We didn't start that badly despite the long wait for a first win and were looking competitive when we drew with Villa at the end of September last year.

Until the weekend Leeds had yet to score a goal from open play and had conceded 6 in 2 games. The promoted teams do appear to be faring better but a comparison cannot be drawn after 5 matches. The difference in playing Liverpool and Man City in the first two games is very different than playing West Ham and Burnley etc.

Yeah, I feel our competitiveness for the first half of the season is being memory holed for some reason. We put ourselves into a decent position to survive if we had kicked on as hoped and improved further 2nd half of the season. Which obviously didn't happen sadly for us. We also could easily have had more points on the board than we did.

The likes of Wolves, West Ham and Brentford are weaker than last season. Wolves/Brentford sold their best players and West Ham seem to be in free fall. And they’ve managed something we couldn’t picked up some points early. I think one of the promoted teams will avoid the drop, still a big achievement but made slightly easier by some of the established teams not being as strong as they were last season.
