In 1982, British trio Imagination offered reassurance that the plane overhead wasn't a Russian bomber, just an Ilyushin Il-62 airliner.

The Polikarpov I-16 had two nicknames, "The Rat" and "The Fly".

Which makes this the U2 double pointer:

This a repetitive double pointer:

I want triple bonus points for the most niche musical interjection, and the most "ridiculous to the sublime" musical segue...

First let's start with the family of helicopters:

One of the variants, the primary ground attack helicopter, is the Cobra:

The nickname for the more general workhorse was the Huey:

(I could have gone Huey Lewis and the News, but Huey from FLC is cooler)

Whilst in the Vietnam War the Cobra was Bell ground attack helicopter, and so more likely to carry out a raid like this, the most iconic music and scene featuring Bell helicopters actually features standard Hueys, not the Cobra variant, because that's what the Phillipine Army had available for Coppola to hire:

I loved FLC. Saw them at Brixton in 98/99 and they showered us with doobies. What happened after that, I have no idea.

If you mean what happened that night, I guess you are hoping that no CCTV footage still exists!

But for those who don't know, Huey has been a 6 Music DJ on and off for years:

I don't want to pss on your chips, but Commandos, in the UK Armed Forces, are members of the Navy, and are members of the Royal Marines Assault Brigades.

A Marine Commando who goes into Special Forces would usually join the Special Boat Squadron, not the Special Air Squadron, although it is possible to transfer across the Services, as Ant Middleton did.

I suppose I was using the term in its general sense but also relying on this which touches on the role of commandos in WW2.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commandos_(United_Kingdom)

What I hadn't realised was that at the end of the Second World War, all the British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and some Royal Marines Commandos were disbanded.

The article also states that the modern Royal Marine Commandos, Parachute Regiment, Special Air Service and the Special Boat Service trace their origins to the Commandos.

But there's nothing wrong with being nerdy. I'm much the same myself.
