Not really, some sports were created to stay prepared for battles.
Killing an opponent in Battle good.
Being able to relay messages very fast between parts of an army good.
Killing your own people whilst practicing to do sword fighting, not good.
Asking, errr lads, who’s the fasted runner, we need more arrows, and finding out that over confident Peteonimus the flat footed, isn’t actually that fast……bad.
So some sports were created from humans needing to do things like fight and maintain the ability to fight.
No Paul, you can’t try hitting a small ball at them from here, and wander over to see if it has hit the particular person you were aiming for, just throw the spear……no Paul, the pointy end first. |  | | |

It’s more the codification I’m referring to some of those pastimes and hobbies that sprang from their initial more brutal existence and need. |  |
