Steve Clarke has really hung out Cieran Slicker to dry 18:01 - Sep 30 with 836 viewsGlasgowBlue

Once again not in the Scotland squad despite playing first team football but he brings in 42 year old Craig Gordon who hasn't played since May, Angus Gunn is warming the bench at Forest and Liam Kelly has only made one appearance for Rangers in the League Cup.

Sliker had an awful debut for Scotland but he was thrown in at the last minute and had been in the squad for a long time before that game. He's just been kicked in the bin because of one game.

“He’s been dropped because he played badly”

Seems fair enough to me. The last thing anyone would want is him being thrown in again following an injury/sending off and a poor display further damaging his confidence.

Let him have a run of at least several months in the first team. Maybe longer. Then consider him again.

Dropped completely from the squad. No one is suggesting he is first choice but dropping him from the squad whilst calling up a 42 year old who hasn''t played since May sends out an awful signal to Slicker.

The signal being that he isn’t ready for international football. Which his last match must show.

Slicker isn’t an idiot. He knows he had a stinker. A place in the squad though might lead to him playing. That is what got him into this position. Shielding him seems best for all concerned at the moment.

Not a good look if you are Scottish and your National side is calling up L2 players?

He's obviously one for the future, Slicker.
Let him get on with his club football. Get some games under his belt.
Nothing really to see here. Not as if he was first choice and then omitted entirely.

Judging by his last game for Scotland. He just ain't ready yet.
But he's got 15-20 years in him yet. If they are calling up 42 year old keepers.
