Certainly on a personal level but perhaps with other supporters as well is that a day like yesterday will improve that emotional bond between fans and players.

A lot of us were sad to see many players from the double promotion team leave the club (quite necessarily I might add) but new bonds are being formed and yesterday will go some way towards that. Having a character like Nunez will also help with that.

Hopefully, and it works both ways. Its always going to take time for players to feel part of something bigger than a pay packet and we've seen how important that is to sustain promotion pushes. I think the club is aware of that too, getting Jason Schechterle over again recently, and being part of a derby day and getting the win all helps. I notice Harry Clarke around yesterday too, no doubt his passion for it will rub off. Important to have some of the longer standing players like Burns & Leif as well, they were new once of course. So was Morsy, Chappers etc, they've all got to start somewhere.

Seeing the scenes at the end does make you realise we're building something again here, hopefully with better parts that can reach a higher ceiling. That will always take time, and yesterday was a big step in the right direction both for players and supporters.

Time for us to get serious and find some songs. Nunez stuff is great but we have a squad to appreciate. Memories of last season when 80% of player songs were Liam Delap olé olé, even after the countdown clock on his departure had started around Christmas. We must be up there with the worst in the country at this singular moment in time after the departures of Mass, Morsy, Broady, Chappers, injury to Wes.

We have Cajuste's penned, we're on our way. When Philogene and Clarke hit double figures I don't want us reduced to just a big cheer when the stadium announcer reads their names out. Did I hear something garbled with "J Philogene" in a line yesterday? The Billy Jean chorus was an open goal but nobody's been able to tap it in. Maybe Villa or Hull fans have done the work for us already.

Also high time to recognise McKenna in our songs again. Lead our flock Blue Action please, homework begins today - and copying the work of former clubs' fans is fine, let's just get it done.

P.s. two much-loved songs of recent years are Delap's and Broadhead's, proper crowd pleasers. I don't know if we have the creativity to entomb them alongside player past, thereby losing the energy and enthusiasm these chants brought. Who better to resurrect our olé olés with than Spanish shark Ivan Azón? And who better to respect the joy Nathan brought than Walle Egeli? We just can't get enough of Walle Egeli, Ivan Azón olé olé, we're on our way.

Agreed, just like the promotions were legendary so was ending that damn run and to have one of theirs coming on as a sub to play a part was the icing on the cake. Still a lot of work to do but yes totally agree.

I think it's often over-rated, personally. Most professional footballers like winning matches, or else they wouldn't have what it takes to be a professional footballer. Obviously, the more games you win, the happier the players & the supporters become. I think this is what helped drive us to our second successive promotion & yes, a supportive crowd who believe & make noise when things aren't going well was a big part of that.
There's generally less of that right now, partly because our fans naturally expect our squad to be good enough to win most games this season, especially at home & it's important the support stays positive. Not sure I'd call it a "bond", though.
