Ruby and Lucy will be in the Legends Bar from 12.45pm-1:15pm, which is located on the West side of the stadium next to the main reception entrance.

In the fifties we were battling with Colchester and Torquay for promotion. We played Colchester at Layer Road towards the end of the season and, at a crucial time, Benny Fenton missed a penalty. The excuse was that Colchester could not afford to go up to the second division so the player/manager had to miss it. Quite a few years later having moved to North Essex, an Ipswich hating Col U supporter tried to make the point that it was the last match of the season and Ipswich were lucky to go up. Unfortunately for him I could prove there was still 13 games left. That apparently was the only time he was wrong in his life! | | | |

You can’t just walk in like you’re the boss of that bar. Every club’s got legends; not ust a pack of jabronis. Doesn’t matter if it’s Colchester or Harchester United, the rules are the same: You keep your head down, you reach peak performing artist and you’ll be called a legend of the locker room too. All us fans need to know is that the Legends Bar is two blocks that way. |  |

Surely our Ray Crawford is a legend there as his is at Portsmouth his own Club. That 1970 FA Cup win over Leeds made the whole team Legends and Rsy got 2 of the goals and he assisted the third! |  | | |

I seem to recall almost a third of our FA cup winning team ended up there, albeit they probably won’t be joining Mr Crawford on the legends photo wall.
More recently, seem to remember a chunk Paul Cook’s infamous bomb-squad stunk the place out for a while… [Post edited 10 Oct 20:51]

I think the only two players in colchester's official hall of fame with strong Town connections are Crawford and D Gregory. I'd say the others who''d be good candidates are certainly Osborne, and maybe Stockwell. Personally I'd add Geraint Williams. |  | | |
