Hirst really is out of form and confidence 20:43 - Oct 17 with 1802 viewsDublinBlue84

His finishing and decision making woeful the last few games.

Hope he goes on and scores but if he doesn't I think his place cannot be assured.

You could see exactly where that pen was going before he even stouched it.

With the penalty, just before he starts the runup he takes a clear, quick, look into the corner he kicked the ball. Even a half blind keeper would have read that.

Compound that with average penalty taking ability, we should have someone with the quality to hit the ball higher in the net or something - we do, but he was on the bench.

On the positive it was not Jack Taylor taking a penalty

In fairness players will do that and then go the other way. So a keeper would be a bit thick to assume a player is going to go the way they look. Any decent keeper will have an idea on where the striker is more likely to put it with some homework but they won't make their decision normally on a striker giving the eyes. They will have made the decision before that and stick to it.

Poll: Who do we think McKenna (not you) will partner Greaves with ?

Most keepers will find something to concentrate on, mainly body positioning, there's a point of no return and with Hirst he made it easy to read unfortunately, there wasn't any tricks to try and put the keeper off he shaped up to shoot one way

a niche perspective

Players who could have taken the penalty rather than Hirst - Cajuste has been a striker and was good when he took a penalty, Kipre has been a striker, Szmodics, Akpom, Philogene.

Really? Some were saying he was not far off Delap and we wouldn't miss Liam a few months ago.

I was never one of them, but some here had that dreadful take.

Lmao, not far off Delap 🤣 he's not far off Ladapo

We don't know who is up for it and some of the best takers have been full backs.
