| Jens Cajuste and the midfield 10:41 - Oct 23 with 820 views | IP1Blue | Whilst I think his dribbling and driving up the field has been good this season at times. It does feel like in the last few games he’s got caught out a little bit more on the ball. His end product all season has been pretty poor and needs to improve. The year we went up Luongo, Morsy and Taylor got 15 goal contributions between them and now 10 games in Taylor, Nunez, Cajuste and Nunez have only 2 assist between them all. Chaplin and Omari in the 10 (I know Omari also played wide right) had 35 goal contributions and Szmodics and Akpom after 10 games have 0. That midfield got 50 of our goal contributions the year we went up. To only have 2 after 10 games from all of them players is really worrying. | | | | |

Matusiwa needs more help, and the 10s are completely ineffectual. Szmodics was OK against Norwich, but touched the ball 15 times. 15! That would be 45 if it was Chaplin. It's time for McKenna to make some big changes. Can't just rotate Philogene back in and hope he'll save us.

Feels to me that Matusiwa and Cajuste pick up very little centrally from the back 3/4. All goes wide and often stays wide, hence we don’t get the 10s involved at all. Hence their lack of output. Nunez and Matusiwa look better at this and maybe where we end up.

Wow. 15 touches is a bit embarrassing unless you go off injured after 30 minutes. I’ve noticed he always seems to be everywhere, but I rarely see him on the ball now I come to think of it.

| Jens Cajuste and the midfield on 13:37 - Oct 23 with 518 views | Vic | I love Jens Rolls Royce style and he does some wonderful stuff that is so pleasing on the eye. But I can;t shake off the sense that he still rather flatters to deceive. I hate to criticise players or even more the manager, but for me he never really seems to grip the game by the neck and make things happen. Like you say, his assists figures are really not what we need. There's also the question about his fitness. How long has he been here - 15mths? - and he still seems to fade really sharply after 75 mins. Maybe his body just can't do 90+ mins, but if he can;t then he really needs to bring more to the table for the time he's on the field. I totally get why KM would like him and has persisted with him, but feel that with the way things are going and with his stats, questions need to start to be asked. I wonder if we'll see Nunez starting more games now. | |

| Jens Cajuste and the midfield on 13:43 - Oct 23 with 475 views | Esseeja | In 6 of the 10 games we have played so far, and if we were to count the 80 minutes at Blackburn, we have failed to score from open play. Of the remaining 4 games, the 1-1 draw against Southampton, it was an own goal. They essentially helped us score. That worries me as much as the amount of goals we have conceded since our promotion from League One. From what I've seen so far, we are no where near good enough at finding better space to to take shots that are threatening enough to be clear cut. When we HAVE done so, we've missed most of those chances, Hirst has missed quite a few himself, particularly against Southampton, Derby, and Norwich. Akpom on Tuesday night against Charlton. I am genuinely concerned. [Post edited 23 Oct 13:44]

He makes some wonderful turns to create space and beats players so well but he doesn't release the ball early enough once he has made that space. Perhaps it is a lack of understanding of the players around him. I do hope that part can come soon because it would make him an exceptional player.
