have made a good point which i'm sure has been noted on here but I have somehow overlooked.
We're now too nice! And if we still had Mass and Morsy we'd easily be top two right now.
I obviously understand we miss Morsy's leadership qualities but it's the fact he is a horrible bugga on the pitch is the biggest loss. Other fans HATED him for his ability to leave a foot/elbow in etc and wind up the opposition - this is exactly what we lack now.
We've recruited a whole squad of really lovely, caring, kind, decent human beings who'd you love to see your daughter bring home. This is great but none of them seem to have that competitive edge to them and rarely get wound up and aggressive. Morsy is a lovely guy too but on the pitch is a nasty fella.
Is it a coincidence that that particular player trait has only been found in a player McKenna has inherited? |  | | |  |

Kind of what I have been saying with me liking to see Jack Taylor in a 3 man central midfield. Whilst Jack is not the most physical and relentless kind of player he is much more combatant then Nunez or Cajuste. Hence I wanted both Azor and JC together with 1 luxury player with them to pull the strings.
I have also mentioned how many teams are very good a sneaking in professional fouls. Charlton got away with 4 of those in the first half and only accrued 1 booking. Clever play that stopped us in our tracks when they were stretched. We just don't do that and teams normally walk through us and we seem to delay the tackle all the time.

It's a very valid point. O'Shea, Greaves, Davis, Johnson, Young, Furlong, Baggott, Taylor, Humphreys, Cajuste, Philogene, Jack Clarke, Szmodics, Walle-Egeli Akpom, Hirst and McAteer are all relatively inoffensive on field characters. Maybe Matusiwa, Nunez, Azon, Harry Clarke and Kipre might have an edge but it's not dominating the opposition and leading the troops stuff.
The supposed recruitment of Premier League athleticism and physicality just hasn't happened. Maybe eventually Walle-Egeli will be but that's down the line.

I think Chambo deserves an honourable mention here too. Despite his perceived limitations, playing in a struggling side, the number of times he literally threw any part of his anatomy in the way to prevent a shot or block one was astounding. Some will say that was because he'd been beaten but the fact remains, he never gave up. |  |

It's the only football pod I listen to to be honest, other than our very own ones that I watch on YouTube. I'm sure there's others out there but there's only so much football related stuff I want to occupy my time.
They are a very good listen. Balancing humour, good debate while not shirking from criticism where it is deserved. I was astonished to learn they were both Derby fans given how much stick they would often give them.

This idea that those individuals have become bad players or dont put their bodies on the line isnt quite right. Weve seen them throw themselves into goal line blocks many times. I believe we are suffering from a tactical imbalance where attack is the emphasis exposing the defence and now compounded with some loss of defender form, a new keeper behind them and a new fairly lightweight midfield in front. We agree we need to see a lot more from all the players but KMck has to get our tactical approach right and not keep chopping the squad about for the next period of time allowing form to build. | |
