Morning all Where to start...? Well, week started with those up the road sacking their manager, and are now carefully weighing up their options to avoid changing status from a tinpot to an ironpot club. Discussions here: Scum new manager by leftback 9 Nov 11:29Who are they gonna get?, seeing some of the names mentioned are surely unrealistic Robins, Rodgers and O’Neil (just turned down wolves talks) even someone like Carrick will have doubts as their in such a mess, seems Martin is probably best they could hope for, be interesting to see how it plays out but in such a bad situation anyone half decent will know if they can’t turn it around immediately they could quite easily have a relegation on their CV Couple of players singled out after our recent run of results (Jack Clarke already had a thread of his own started last month, which is still going strong ) - you can read and add to the love-ins here: Nunez by Churchman 9 Nov 23:52Watched the game fully back now.
A fit Nunez has to start for me. I like his feistiness but most particularly how aggressive he is with the ball. No messing about, he looks to move it on quickly. Decisions are not always correct but the tempo of the the team looks much quicker with him in it. Add in his ability from free kicks and as far as I’m concerned he plays week in week out where possible.
What have they done to Taylor?? He looks a different player. Solid, aggressive his passing was good too.
Clarke? MOTM. He really stretched them, gave them the runaround and I like the way he tries things. Hell of a shot on him too.
Azon - lovely to see him score. He’s clearly popular and a great character. I wouldn’t put it past him scoring a few now. I like him.
Overall we were too good for them. Concerns? A tendency to get sloppy for periods. Ten mins in the first half and part of the second. I’m hoping with games and understanding they’ll get a grip of that.
Swansea? As the commentators said, they were not the worst but obviously there will be bigger challenges. Burgess? Not his finest hour but he’s a good player who’ll have better days.
A good day and a good week. Bit of discussion this week about Sam Morsy's future, even before it came to light that he's been training at Wolves: Free agents by Keno 10 Nov 23:29Anyone this list you’d take?
https://x.com/eflpublished/status/1987945793941078517?s=20 Morsy's Plans by LA_Tractor_Boy 11 Nov 11:06Has anyone heard any whispers about Sam Morsy's plans for the future.
As he's been released by Kuwait SC, I assume he must be training somewhere if he plans to join a club in January. Or maybe he's got his feet up somewhere and has semi-retired.
Obviously most would love to see him back here in January, but surely it can't/won't happen if he's not trained or been on the hobnobs for 4 months. And another discussion about someone who could have been playing for us this season... Ogbene by SuffolkPunchFC 13 Nov 20:25Showing why I was gutted we loaned him out for the entire season. [confused] Away from the football, nice fun thread with people sharing their most embarrassing stories carried through from the previous week. Yet to add mine to the list, as still trying to work out which of my Top 10 deserves the top spot Most embarrassing moment of your life? by MrPotatoHead 7 Nov 11:07Anyone got any funny ones they want to share?
As a child I got my head stuck in the railings of Buckingham Palace once on a school trip. Put it right through for some reason, presumably to get a closer look at goings on and I couldn't wiggle it out for a good few minutes, everyone was laughing at me and I still think about it occasionally. Thankfully didn't need the fire service to cut any rails. Main political talking points this week have been a potential challenge to Keir Starmer's leadership, changes to Income Tax, the cost of living crisis, and Reform UK No smoke without fire: by Zx1988 11 Nov 21:40https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5y0z2q2g2ro
What a jolly odd thing to release completely unprompted. Definitely a leadership challenge in the offing. Please, God, let it be Burnham. Income Tax rise ditched by SitfcB 14 Nov 7:21https://news.sky.com/story/starmer-and-reeves-ditch-plans-to-raise-income-tax-in-budget-13470025

Said on here before I don’t think I would begrudge paying a few P more in tax providing things would get better on the whole, and proving the £50k threshold was raised why was there such outrage at the thought of it?
Purely because it would’ve broken their manifesto?
The "cost of living crisis" just continues. by noggin 10 Nov 7:31In the last 12 months, coffee has risen by 25%, fresh cod by 18%, eggs by 12.5%, bananas 12.8% and the list goes on. (This is in Norway but I presume it's similar in the UK?)
Obviously wages are not rising at anything like those figures, so why are prices continuing to rise so quickly? It must be a huge struggle for many families, lower paid workers and the unemployed. Maybe it's time to return to eating local and seasonal produce, although cod is local here and it's becoming a luxury for most people. Reform set to win both Ipswich seats, but immigration not everything by thebooks 13 Nov 9:18This is a really important bit of research, I think:
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/nov/13/who-votes-for-reform-and-why-charts-that-show-who-supports-farage-party
TLDR: Reform is on course to win the next election (inc. both Ipswich seats), but its voter base is wildly varied (like Trump's).
Lab saying there's no money to fix anything while waving flags and trying to be reasonably racist will gift Farage the election.
It is partly reassuring to hear that immigration isn't actually the most important issue for all Reform voters, however it might seem on social media, the news, wherever.
Farage will have problems keeping any coalition together once in power (again, like Trump), but a weak, unpopular opposition (for Dems read the current Labour party) will only help him. And finally, 2 of our resident wind-up merchants posted their weekly threads...onceablue is taking bets on Keir Starmer being out of a job by the end of the year, and I'm still trying to work out whether Churchman is trolling us, sponsored by Heinz, or has an addiction that requires an intervention: Cheese Spread by Churchman 15 Nov 14:25Now we all love Dairylea don’t we? Well, I did as a kid and actually there are actually worse things to eat. But is it cheese?
Anyhow, there is a tub of that seriously strong spreadable cheese in the fridge so gave it a go the other day. On its own with butter and fresh bread, it was tolerable, but not the best really. A poor imitation of lunch.
So today, experimental upgrade time:
1. You take your fresh artisan baguette (white, not peasant bread).
2. Slather good quality butter on both sides
3. On one side, a plastering of sandwich spread, on the other the same depth of cheese spread.
4. On the bottom layer (doesn’t matter which way up) lay down a carpet of ready salted crisps. A good thick layer.
5. Place the lid on top and crush down - not too hard but sufficient to crush the crisps to make the baguette gob sized..
It works. The cheese spread and sandwich spread hold the crisps so no mess and you get a savoury tangy baguette with a balance of flavours to tickle the taste buds that leaves you wanting more.
I thank you.
Happy Sunday all P.S. Just seen that Benters boiled water thread... My Good Lady has been drinking boiled water by Benters 15 Nov 11:52For a while now and I’ve started doing it,I do drink tea and ginger and lemon tea,but I do go for cooling down boiled water as well now.
