Twice before from what I can see but that was back in the 1940s which both involved Newport County and Swansea Town (as they were at the time).

We actually played Newport on 25/12/47 (A), 27/12/47 (H) and Swansea 3/1/48 (H).

Then Newport 1/1/49 (A) and Swansea 15/1/49 (H).

We played Swansea and Cardiff in consecutive games in 58/59, both away.

4/10/58 v Swansea L 2-4
11/10/58 v Cardiff W 2-1

Wish I could be there today; obvious Welsh connection with the family and all that. Even our Swansea and Cardiff games have become rarer in recent years as we’ve been bouncing around between the leagues.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I know we for a couple of seasons we played Norwich on Christmas Day, and then Boxing Day, but that's Norwich, not too far away.

But Newport home and away in three days?! Ouch!

And 1947, so no M4..Or indeed, Severn Bridge which means they'd have probably gone Cambridge-Bedford-Northampton-Coventry-Birmingham-Worcester-Gloucester.

And then back again. Mostly on single carriageway roads.
