Why do they announce the new Tannoy system after the fans forum? How do we ensure that they retain the iconic "Welcome To Portman Road, This Sound..." anno. During the Keane and Hurst eras that's the most entertainment we got most weeks.

I know that it's a tongue-in-cheek question, but I would assume that it's in order to create the impression that the decision has come about as a result of the input at the forum.
I agree with you on the message - it's as much a part of Portman Road as the lettering on the Cobbold Stand, or the aroma of fresh paint from the turnstiles.

I did nearly add joking/not joking.
I live up near the park and hearing that wafting up the hill the day before a home match signals the unofficial start to my weekend, it's the antithesis of all that "Your Ipswich Town" nonsense.
I was only wondering yesterday when it first started? I feel like it's always been played in my tenure, which is 92 onwards.

No it was post 2000 thing.
And not your point i know but why is the club pretending its reacting to fan feedback from the forum. Why wasn't it right from day 1 ? Why isn't Ashton or one of his minions moving around the stadium each match to experience the game experience the fans put up with more often. That would be proactively making match day better, not reactively dealing with complaints

Unless they've changed in the last couple of years, I seem to remember the actual siren sound dates as far back as the John Duncan era. Only Pat Godbold gave more years of service.

It's like the Mind the Gap anno on the Tube, I imagine the person who recorded it may well no longer be with us, but she has this brilliant ethereal presence wafting across the breeze multiple times a week.
Still, boxes full of fire ay - magic

I don't know if it's still the case, but the original Mind The Gap announcement was still being used on one of the platforms at Embankment. After the chap who made the announcement passed away, his widow would sometimes go down there just so she could hear his voice.

The recording has been updated/upscaled a little I think. Up until a few years ago there was around a second of silence at the end followed by a distinct *thud* ahead of whatever was played next. I hadn't realised at the time but I used to instinctively hold my breath during the brief silence and exhale upon hearing the *thud*. No idea why other than finding it a comforting part of my own routine.
