| A little bit of perspective. 10:30 - Nov 29 with 3081 views | Guthrum | We are battling in the play-off places, not fighting relegation. If we continue our recent sequence of form - WDWDWL - until the end of the season, we would be on 82 points. Which will put us comfortably at the top end of the play-offs, with a shout at the automatics. | |

| A little bit of perspective. on 18:29 - Nov 29 by Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | You’re hard work aren’t you? Why not focus on us, you know the one club out of the ones you list with consistency at manger, fans that believe in ownership, not irregular finances with looming points deductions or going through coaches like school dinners. All this just makes it worse than the other parachute clubs have been poorly run and we are not up against a Leeds or Burnley. [Post edited 29 Nov 2025 18:33]

why not use perspective, look at the wider focus, take a calm, considered view? if we go up, we've achieved our aims, we're currently 3-6 points off that with 87 points to play for, why is the sky constantly falling in for you?

| A little bit of perspective. on 18:25 - Nov 29 by J2BLUE | We need to achieve the aim of going up. Doesn't really make any difference if you win the league by 20 points or secure second on goal difference. Not excusing poor performances and at times, a lack of ideas, but the overreaction is a bit much. Truly believe this will be a very different conversation at the end of Feb. |
It’s makes no difference correct but we are already just about out of touch from Cov and hardly setting the world alight at the same time in a bunched up average division. So it’s disappointing. I hope you’re right about end of Feb.

We'll soon find out. | |

Sorry to disappoint you j2. Im not really in a position to turn Im mixed on the whole situation tbh but happy enough to have views on either side of the fence tbh. Think thats the fairest place tbh. I dont agree that being in top 6 is an acceptable place to finish. But likewise we are top 6 at the moment so its not booo his km out. Id just like to see some of kms football on show not this lambert tribute act. That's not comparing km to lambert before anyone says that. Just that the football is actually quite painful to watch which we didnt have under km up until Christmas in the prem. [Post edited 29 Nov 2025 18:40]

Why don’t you ever answer my questions when I answer yours? Of course it will all be judged at the end of the season but we are going to talk about it up to that point. Sorry if I’m not as chilled as you when we are 1.5PPG going into December. The fact we are still in touch (from second, not first) is us getting away with it to some extent.

| A little bit of perspective. on 18:31 - Nov 29 by Guthrum | Who were the two players we spent the most on in the summer of 2024? We don't have them any more. Yes, we made a profit, but we don't have their quality any more. We did not come down with a multi-season accumulation of Prem-level talent, like Leicester and Southampton (or Newcastle, as per my example). We had one round of top-tier hires, most of whom came under the heading of "good prospects" or "best of the Champ". We have a good squad, but it's not "Prem merely visiting the Champ", by any means. |
Your first paragraph explains the exact mode of why we should be miles ahead of most of this league (along with the parachute money that now accompanies it). [Post edited 29 Nov 2025 18:42]

because you always flounce away about something else when i answer you with facts and perspective! yes, i'm relatively chilled about being in touch of our aim with 87 points to play for with a current form of 2 points per game. question is, why is the sky constantly falling in for you?

So you still won’t then. Perspective is the word of the day around here but it’s unfortunately not supported by any kind of facts. You’ve nailed your username though, I’ll give you that. [Post edited 29 Nov 2025 18:45]

so why judge us more harshly than teams who've had years and years and years of prem and parachute money and after managerial changes are still worse than us?

Maybe start a thread about Leicester and Southampton then if you’re so keen for us to simply measure up against them? Saints have won 5 of 6 after sacking Still by the way.

We have good money. We can buy good Champ players. But not of quality miles above that. They aren't going to come to a relegated team (many of them weren't sold on coming even to a just-promoted side last seasonm, either). We should be doing well, but I can't see how we should be utterly dominating the division. Especially as we are not much more than a third of the way through the race.

I didnt judge us worse. All three clubs are not where you'd expect them to be. And again though with town. Its not really for me the current league position im hooked up on. Its too early. Its the level of performances that surprises me. [Post edited 29 Nov 2025 18:53]

You should check how many parachute clubs occupied automatic places over the last decade. The fact we were fortunate enough to go down with Leicester who have turned into a basket case with all kinds of financial irregularities and Southampton who have been flying through managers and were one of the worst PL sides in history is not being taken advantage of IMO. A lot of excuse making on here. Surely you can see issues with our recruitment?

why? it's not normal to go from losing every week, being relegated, losing your best players and then winning every week

is that your question you're so frantic that i answer? in that case, my answer is that i'm not interested in starting a thread on leicester and soton, the table speaks for itself. we're slightly overachieving them despite their multiple seasons of prem money that you're so keen on. not sure soton have won 5 of 6? they lost today despite leading and conceded 3, can't imagine your flounce if that'd happened to us!

Lol you’re just making it up now, Burnley literally just done this. What’s not normal is 3 parachute clubs not in at least playoff places in December. At least one of them not making the top 2 is almost unheard of.

i'd always prefer that they were, but teams have got promoted playing far worse in december. no need to panic plus, it's always the sign of a good team when you're picking up 2 points per game even when not at your best!

"not in at least playoff places in December" that's interesting that you completely rule us out, when we're 2 points behind, and we have 24 to play for in december! plus, we were in the playoff places as recently as yesterday... soton and leicester are only 5 back with 21 to play for, wouldn't rule them out either stop fretting, the sky isn't falling in, we just lost our first game in 7! are you one of the new town fans, don't remember you being around much in the pre-mckenna days? football has ups and downs, learn to not flounce too far in either direction with each win and loss
