I watched the game last night and they only seemed to show any real attacking intent after Sunderland scored much like us against Blackburn. Like Town, Liverpool’s defence is extremely shaky and their array of forward players are struggling to score. Both teams seem very low on confidence. Much like our wins against QPR, Swansea and Hull , Liverpool’s win against West Ham suggested they have turned a corner only for them to put in another below performance in the following game(s) Both Slot and McKenna are under increasing pressure and the fans are getting restless but the clubs are sticking by their manager hoping it will come good eventually. Both managers made lots of changes to personnel over the summer (some enforced like Alexander Arnold / Delap, Hutchinson and some were by choice) and those changes haven’t yet paid off. Then concede a soft goal from the opposition’s first attempt. Then huff and puff to try and get a goal back but look like a bunch of strangers. The individual talent is there. The cohesion and connections are not.

Man City have found a bit of form but can't seem to defend. Who expected Chelsea to lose 3-1 at Leeds. Newcastle are nowhere near the team they were last season mainly due to losing Isak. Who expected the Budgies to be bottom three. McKenna is probably right in that many teams are stronger this season in the Championship. I don't think this excuses our pretty in and out form though. It's more to do with half a dozen of the first team squad underperforming.

Whilst its not the same form of mourning and I wish not to belittle the notion as I do believe its had a massive effect I do sometimes think about this town squad and KM mourning the loss of morsy. Not based on the football side of things but perhaps the background stuff. The club has a very different feel about it this season.

When they were touting themselves around for one last big payday, they should have been encouraged to take an offer and go. And I don't say this with hindsight. We on the other hand have shown no sentimentalism and have let all our veterans leave.

We also lost quite a lot of backroom staff, didn't we?

Absolutely crazy to suggest either of these are remotely the same thing. Sorry.

Its not about being the same thing. But thats not to say the club isn't missing the loss of individuals. They don't need to have died to become a loss.

It has been posted in response to my comment with the word "mourning" - for a bloke that we had the power to keep. I'd maybe get the sentiment more if the old band were all still here but honestly, I imagine only a handful of the current squad are particularly bothered he as a character isn't here (those that shared the double promotion experience - Walton, Davis, H.CLarke, Taylor, Burns, Hirst)
