Expansion of the ground seems a great idea on 14:04 - Dec 18 by Churchman

Our current ground is too small when we are successful. This has been proven.

It’s 2025. The current ground with the exception of the lower section of the West Stand is completely changed from when I first entered it as a child. Where’s the ‘tradition’ in that? There isn’t any. There is just change. It’s the way of the world.

You might want just a football club and the ground used 23 times a year. We had that under Evans for 14 years. Joyous wasn’t it. That old tradition dirt on your trousers sitting on a seat with a rusty frame. The stench of the fetid bogs, East stand with its narrow gloomy stairs and seats where your shins are jammed against the seat in front unless you are a child or a dwarf. Floodlights with half the bulbs out. Ahhh, the good old days when the purchase of a tin of paint was seen as an upgrade.

Alternatively, how about accepting that unless you progress and embrace change you will go backwards as we had done after 2002 and before 2021. How about understanding that if you build something decent it’ll attract more people.

When Sunderland moved from Roker Park to SoL, their attendances rocketed. I wouldn’t expect that here, but I do think better facilities and an appropriate capacity would attract more people, especially those that can only make the odd game. And for those that already attend, how can better facilities be a bad thing?

Modernisation is a constant requirement and we need more capacity to keep up too. These things go together and also make financial sense to nail them at the same time anyway.

Imagine where we would be if the Pioneer, North and Churchman stand upper tiers hadn’t been done?

Poll: What type of manager will we get?

Tickets are available for every game this season, except Norwich, however if you have a new family wanting to attend, it is still very hard to get 4 seats together, that are not restricted view.

Mostly singles and restricted view. We need to be able to offer decent seats to individuals and groups.
